I'm trying to throw together a Home-Brew Exodite codex and I really want an excuse to use Orion from the Wood Elf range in a similar manner to how the Craftworld Eldar use the Avatar, So here is my fluff justification, and I want to know if people think it makes sense.

The World Spirit of an Exodite world is the collective Psychic energy of everything that has ever lived on the world, all collected in a kinda miniature warp kept separate from the larger Ocean by a network of waystones. This effectively gives each Exodite world their own little slice of the Warp were their souls are safe, absorbed into World Spirit in a similar way to the Infinity Circuit. The Exodites worship Kurnous and Isha as their main deities, as they were the ''Mother and Father'' of their race and the way in which they live lends itself to the Hunt. Maybe the Psychic energy of this worship manifests inside the World Spirit into an entity that thinks it is Kurnous. Basically, a Daemon of the World Spirit that is shaped into Kurnous by the Exodites. Of course, there are no ''Good'' Daemons, but Kurnous of not a good God, but a God of the Hunt and the thrill of the chase. Then, much like the Craftworld Eldar, this entity can be summoned and a sacrifice can be made to give him a physical form.

So in effect, It would be an Exodite Daemon Host for an entity which manifested inside the World Spirit as the collective worship of Kurnous. Stat-wise he'd be similar to a Daemon Prince, Ws 8, I9, S6 T5 with some Avatar like rules which would let Exodites re-roll charge ranges.

Fluff-wise would you say this makes sense within the lore?

Sounds quite a bit like the manifestation of the Avatar on Craftworlds, maybe with a bow and a pack of hunting hounds. All you have to do is add a Young King and stir vigorously.

This doesn't gel well with the general fluff that says all the Eldar Gods except sundered Khaine and the Laughing God were devoured by Slaanesh. However, if it's a demonic manifestation given Kurnous-form by the collective Eldar psyche on your Exodite world, why not?

I'm assuming your Kurnous will be cruel and capricious, rather like the classic Sidhe, the Celtic Wild Hunt or Warhammer Fantasy's (old) Wood Elf milieu. That'd be in keeping with the nature of a warp being manifested as a huntsman, particularly if associated with bloody hunting rites. I'd recommend reading up on the mythic or WFB Wood Elf Wild Hunt for ideas.

Personally, I'm not entirely convinced that a warp being couldn't be beneficent. The fluff I've read never addresses the possibility beyond (possibly) the Emperor and Ynnead. If the warp mirrors the emotions of sentient beings and you had enough people thinking happy thoughts it would seem that a benign warp being would be possible, but conditions are so wretched in 40k that such a thing would incredibly improbable.

So... I'd say the idea is possible, but it'd be nice to flesh out the 'how it came to be and how it is sustained' in some detail.

My two cents.

I'm drawing heavily from the theme of the Wild Hunt and Summer Equinox from the Fantasy Wood Elf lore. The only difference is the ritual to summon Orion is a guy becoming a God for a Summer while this ritual is for all intents and purposes a Daemon Host binding.

My original fluff idea of why this came to be was actually a fight between the Craftworlders and the Exodites. The Craftworlders wanted to harness the World Spirit to power a ritual, but the Exodites were having none of it, so battle erupts on the Maiden World. Thinking scare tactics, the Farseers summon the Avatar, thinking the superstitious Exodites will cower before the Destroyer. The Avatar rages through the shrine of the World Spirit, slaughtering everyone save for the World Singer, in her aspect of Isha, and makes her watch. It was the World Singers unparalleled connection to the World Spirit that called forth the Daemon and bound it to a body.

The God-Shard and Daemon Construct fought over the World Singer, replaying the War in the Heaven's all over again. But this time, Kurnous Won. On this ground, were the World Spirit was strongest and standing between his perceived Isha and Khaine, Kurnous triumphed. Then he led the Exodites in a great hunt for the Craftworld Kin, they were merciless. Now whenever danger threatens the Maiden World a body may become host the Daemon that is Kurnous and lead another Wild Hunt. Only the line of World Singers know the necessary rituals (Daemon Summoning and Binding) and sigils to draw onto the body in fresh animal blood, and only they know the true nature of their 'God' as nothing more then a Daemon.

As for how He's sustained, that is why he is bound within a body. However a Maiden World is also criss-crossed with Waystones which tether the World Spirit to the world, so the power of the World Spirit would be strongest in these places, allowing him to draw power from his own little slice of the Warp.
