So first time playing 7th ed. And first time playing in years. Brought this army against my friends Dark Angels. I won but I felt like i had a lot of good luck..and some bad too.
Flying Hive tyrant with 2x twin linked devourers with brainleech worms and hive commander
Unfortunately i put him in reserve to come in as swooping and he didnt make it on till turn 4. Periled and forgot dominion. But he showed up and finished off a few squads. Only wound he suffered was from perils.
One brood of 3 Zoanthropes.
Stayed alive till turn 4. Periled and forgot warpblast the first time i used it. Basically became unkillable synapse squad that soaked up a ton of firepower
2broods of 20 termagaunts with 10 devourers and 10 fleshborers each.
Just awesome. One squad walked up the table and the other came on turn two and decimated his devastator skyfire missle launcher squad in preparation for my dakkarant. They were out of synapse for a turn but ran back into it. The walking squad pumped out 40 shots a turn vaporising a scout squad and a couple
tac squads. My opponent opted to try and take down my carnifexs and zoanthropes instead of these. I think i only lost 4 termagaunts between the two squads
2 broods of Hormagaunts 17 and 18 per.
first brood got shot a lot and managed to get in combat and tie up a Terminator squad with librarian for a 2 turns but did very little damage. Second brood was farther back in my line so it took them a little longer to get in to combat. Assaulted the termies and killed a bunch then the next turn he came in with his
tac squad and i was an inch out of synapse and they got killed with sweeping advance.
1 Brood of 3 warriors deathspitters and stranglethorn cannon, scything talons
didnt really get to shoot their deathspitters till turn 4 and 5. Hardly killed anything with the stranglethorn cannon. However proved valuable synapse for the swarm after my zoanthropes died and my outflanking gaunts ran back in to their synapse range which helped them kill a
tac squad. So worth the points. maybe just should keep them with their devourers next time
1 brood of 10 Gargoyles. no upgrades
put these in a line across the front of the swarm. they took a bit of shooting in the beginning and then got taken down to 4 models from sniper overwatch then failed charge. and the rest were mopped up the following shooting phase. Good distraction/cover unit. Just poor choice to charge.
1 biovore
Was not really effective. Killed a model here and there but nothing significant. Guess thats why you take 3 not just one.
1 Brood of 3 Carnifexs all with 2 twinlinked devourers with brainleech worms
Did an awesome job of thinning out squads and threating his terminators. He sunk all his heavy weapons shots into these and didnt manage to kill one till turn 4. He also sunk most of his bolters into these guys as well as the Zoanthropes. It just didnt work.
He conceded at the start of his turn 5 but i got him to play it out since it was a close game.
He had gotten 5 points with tactical objective cards. However i got first blood, slay the warlord, and linebreaker along with 3 other points from the cards.
He only brought 2 flamers and i think he only got to shoot one of them once and then wall of death in overwatch.
at the end of the game he had 2 5man
tac squads left and one librarian to my 2 carnifexs 37 gaunts flyrant warriors and biovore
I still feel like there was to much luck going on with this list (as he rolled really poorly with all his heavy weapons. I dont know if that is a normal thing)
And i would like some help to strengthen it.
ty in advance
