A friend of mine got the diagnosis leukemia and has his treatments at the moment.
when he leaves hospital in dezember we want to give him a "suprise" in form of a nice eldar army ready for an apoc game we set up.
I painted the first Crimson Hunter ( 2 more to go) in a scheme i think he is gonna like, cause he loves popping colours and airbrush effects like nebula etc.
However, after looking at the gems im unsure how to paint them.
i was thinking maybe doing them in a fiery theme, whatever some people say that wont match.
maybe pinkish?
also the base is giving me headache, i have absolutly no idea how to do those on this one.

anyone got ideas?

sorry the pictures are a bit grainy

Two things come to my under-caffeinated mind: Deep blue sapphires or very bright turquoise. Although a deep purple might also work. That would tie in more with the body of the fighter, while the turquoise would key in with the highlights.

For the base, just have it match the rest of the army IMHO.

Since its a whole new Army no other bases exist

Do you have photoshop or the like? you could try playing with colors that way.

Nice effects btw,

Do you guys have a regular table? What’s the apoc game going to be played on? You could base to match. What’s the rest of the army going to be?

With the palette you are working with, I’m not sure what would match up well for a base. My knee-jerk reaction is “anything but green” although I think browns might be out as well. I’d go with something grey/white. Possibly urban ruins, ash wastes, lava/demon, or arctic.

YMMV, I’m one of the last people you want to talk to about basing.
