Hello all!
The guys in my local hobby store are planning some AoS games [60 Wounds, max 2 "no named" heroes, max 1 warmachine, max 1 monster ) ... so i would like to field, and finally try, the Wanderer host.
My units will be:
- G Lord (bow of Loren and falcon)
- Spellsinger on horse
- 2 x 10 Glade Guard
- 10 Eternal Guard
- 5 Glade Riders

and i would like some advice on the last 10 models unit... the choice between Rangers, Wardancers and WW is pretty hard (all have their good points and are useful in different situations)

I tried the Wardancers in a past game, and a unit of 10 is brutal for damage output but the WW are maybe one of the best WE unit (great against armored troops or 2 wounds models), but i m not sure about a full shooting list. And the Rangers are a good choice against the monster that you see very often in a AoS game.

What do you think? Any suggestions is very appreciate!! Thanks!

Best!

Don't go full shooting, you don't want your game to be decided by whether or not any models reach you in melee. :p

I'd maybe tinker with the number of glade guard (say, 15 in one unit) and throw 5 waywatchers in. This will give you a solid shooting base, with tools to deal with armor and enough shots to deal with hordes. Just keep the WW out of harm's way so they can do their job - hide them in a wood if you can.

For the last ten wounds, I'd go with Rangers or WD, depending on who you are going to be fighting. If you expect huge monsters every game, the Rangers will do work - if they get the charge off. The WD are very flimsy but they can hit hard and fast, and have good utility as well.

thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, the "wanderer host" formation only allows a choice between WW, Wardancer or Rangers.... I can t take the 5 WW unfortunately .
Although the Rangers are good against monsters ... I think maybe that wardancer have more utility, even if with the ambush rule I can not choose any dance for the first round since there is not hero phase.
