Hi folks.

So, I got myself a Deimos Predator.

I've only ever done infantry models from FW nd whilst this is no major project, I want to get it right. So I have a few questions, I think I know the answe to most of them, but just want to reassure myself before I start in earnest.

Resin needs to be cleaned to get rid of residual release agent, I assume a warm but not hot with some washing up liquid is best?

I haven't done a dry fit yet, hut if any parts are warped either hot eater or a hair dryer should be enough to straighten any mis cast areas?

Superglue is fine on resin?

If anyone has any experience with the deimos, comments are of course welcome.

In terms of magnetising, the turret looks simple enough, but I'm stumped on to magnetise the sponsons, so if anyone can give advice (or better yet a tutorial / pics) that would be most appreciated!

I've assembled a couple so far. Rubberbands will be your friend. 99% of any warping on the big side pieces can be easily fixed by using superglue, attaching it with the inner piece, and rubberbanding the two together tightly. The glue will set, and the warping will be fixed as the glue either pulls it together, or the inner spacers push it out, as appropriate.

You can also use a hair drier to set the resin after you glue it while the rubbers are holding it.

As for magnetizing im not sure,

Thanks guys. Hopefully I'll be bathing it tonight to get rid of any residual release agent, and a dry fit will follow. I'll be sure to borrow some rubber bands from work in preparation

Just need some shining knight to give advice on magnetising those sponsons

For the sponsons, I recommend a two part magnet to it. Use wider magnets for attaching the sponson itself to the hull, so you can easily rotate it up and down and remove it for storage, and use a smaller magnet to attach the gun to the sponson, so you can swap between lascannon and heavy bolter. I'll try to remember to take a picture of how I did it when I get home tonight.

My process for resin models is as follows:

Clean in lukewarm soapy water with a soft toothbrush. Set on a towel or dish pad and allow to air dry.

File or sand surfaces that will contact each other, such as shoulder joints. That helps the superglue bond tight.

If it's warped or bent, use hot water to soften and reshape the piece. If it's a vehicle panel or other flat vehicle part, prep a smooth, flat surface to put the piece on once it's been softened so it will lay flat.

Thanks. I've washed in warm soapy water. Good call on roughing the areas to glue, I hadn't considered that.

EDC do you have any pictures of this project? I'm expecting some tanks from forgeworld as well, and would love to see how yours turned out

You don't really want to rough the edges to glue, rather polish them flat. File or sand as para said, but you're not roughing it up like you would with wood.

Hot water from the tap is fine for fixing resin - get it hot, bend beyond where you want it to go, flick the tap to cold to set it. Repeat a few hundred times until it is right. Tannhauser and desu are right too, glue forgives a lot.

For magnets, I don't know how the deimos sponsons attach, but I'll get some pics of my regular rhino which is magnetized heavily
