Hello all,

Recently a friend of mine gave me some old Space Hulk Miniatures from the Blood Angels faction along with most of the Blood Angels miniatures from Deathstorm. Problem: I don't play Blood Angels. I play Dark Angels primarily. And these miniatures are just riddled with Blood Angel regalia so they won't exactly make convincing Deathwing Terminators.. I was simply thinking about painting over them as a different faction (a successor chapter of the Dark Angels such as Guardians of the Covenant), making them a different color to make them not look like Blood Angels but it doesn't seem to work all that well. So my question is this: What tools and techniques do I need to remove most (hopefully all) all these Blood Angel markings?

I have seen a lot of these miniatures used in other armies. Sometimes with bits from other kits to disguise their origins. You could also remove the most obvious iconography, and paint the blood drops are tears symbolizing a pivitol battle/loss of an honored brother/etc.

I would be inclined to sell the BA stuff on ebay and turn around and buy DA stuff with the proceeds.

Yep. I haven't checked recently but in the past Space Hulk BA's have been worth more than enough on ebay to buy a new kit of Terminators for another faction.

Space Hulk Terminators are nice models, but the sheer volume of iconography on them makes them difficult to convert. You can trim and file off all the blood drops and chalices, but it's easier just to buy a new kit.

I suppose you could just try turning all the blood drops in to swords and see how you go.
