If I jump over a dreadnought then charge it from behind does the dreadnought get to use its WoD on overwatch if it has a template weapon? I'm thinking no because its vehicle weapons are pointing the wrong way.

You need LOS to make an Overwatch attack.

How?

Again, you need LOS to perform Overwatch. Unless the Dreadnought is built with its weapons facing backwards, there is no way to draw LOS to a unit behind it.

Walkers can fire Overwatch exactly like Infantry unless they are Immobilised, in which case they are restricted to their weapon arcs (pg 90, BRB)

"To represent the vastly superior agility of Walkers in comparison with other vehicles, Walkers can fire Overwatch. Furthermore, Walkers can fire their weapons even if the charging unit is not within their current weapon arc, unless they are Immobilised (in which case they can only fire Overwatch if the charging unit’s models lie within their current weapon arc)."

That said, being able to fire Overwatch outside of weapon arc is not the same as not requiring line of sight.

Ah, perfect. I had forgotten about that rule. Thanks

...this is indeed an issue.

They're given permission to fire at a target outside their weapon arc, but no permission to allocate wounds to models out of LOS. So they can fire their Overwatch at the charging unit, but the moment you determine how many wounds you have caused, the wound pool empties due to the Out of Sight rule.

It seems fairly clear, though, that the intention is to be able to apply wounds to the unit. It's just another hole created by GW not thinking to include a line in the Out of Sight rule exempting attacks that don't require LOS.

Yeah, given that line of sight for vehicle weapons is determined by their firing arc it's a fairly small hole, so go with being able to fire overwatch outside of a walker's firing arc and accordingly out of line of sight.

Not the first time Game Workshop has made that 'line of sight' mistake....

The intent seems clear, though.
