Looking good there BC.

I don't think you need a character model. Have you tried playing with layouts. I know you are going for a marching column with this, but what about the tank further forward on the road acting as cover for some models and have the individual models (non-sniper) charging from behind the tank (a la "Braveheart") with a commissar in front of them leading the way. The snipers would be taking up positions on high ground to pick off the front rack of opponents. Your Jeep could be coming down the higher ground on the left parallel with the tank. I just wonder if it will tie the dynamism of the jeep to the rest of the force, allow you to show off your beautifully created broken road terrain and solve your "focal point" issue.

Or I'm talking through my bum........

It's a fair comment!
The problem with bringing vehicles forward, is that I don't know what this board will be displayed on. A high table, or one behind a cordon (It's at WHW, not a local store) and the tank will block the view.

The left hand bank is designed to be quiet so you have to look for the Tanith and snipers beneath the trees; once leaves are on it, he'll be harder to see them.

My entire board once set up with foliage, will b a second-glance setup.

Thank you.
I need to get the trees painted and bedded in, then get it all varnished, possibly not in that order.

Then I am going to flock it, fit foliage and tufts, the leaves for the trees, and fallen leaves, and finally snow.

This is really the least fun part, done now.

So a winter , late autumn marching scene?

Sounds very good. And rather complex.

Main issue is having no real central character figures. It's not like space marines, everywhere it's just humans.
Just humans??
They are the most wacked-out species in the universe.
I am sure many could be made to display a bit of character to them.
What is that saying, "It is not our strengths but our weaknesses that define us."
I personally would like to be defined this way as little as possible but my friends and family find me funny so it must count for something.
I keep thinking of "the last chancers" as an example, "Gaunt's Ghosts" are less obvious but possible.

Oh, some of the more interesting figures with the right paint scheme could make a nice character figure.

That board is shaping up nicely, really good lay of the land feel to it.

So I've been working on some illustration lately.
Full comic will be launched in a couple of weeks, but I figure so few people will see this that I can get away with sharing here.
