Subject: Some Quick Chaos Questions..

Let me preface this by saying that I full well know what would probably be the answer to some of these questions, however stupid they may sound, I ask only to see what the RAW and good rules interpretation say, so here we go: 1. Under "Marks of Chaos" it says that an Army lead by a character with a mark other than the mark of chaos undivided, cannot include units with differing marks (a Khorne lead army cannot include Thousand Sons Marines or Flamers for instant). Now as I plan on using a Blood Thirster as my HQ for my Word Bearers army, I am wondering why Army Builder gives me an error for wanting to take Deamonettes in the army. For the life of me, I can't see that a Blood Thirster has a Mark of Khorne. 2. Chosen Terminators, in the list entry it has a blanket statement that Chosen has access to Veteran Skills, however Veteran Skills do not have the "*" next to it. I have always assumed that this mean you cannot have Vet. Skills on Chaos Terminators, but I would like peoples take on it.

The Bloodthirster does not have a Mark of Khorne, he is a Living Icon. And he does not lead the army either, the Aspiring Champion who he will possess leads the army. Page 38: "The commander will be a Chaos Lord if there is one, otherwise the Chaos Lieutenant who costs the most points. If neither of these are present then an Aspiring Champion acting as a host for a Greater Daemon commands, or rather passes on the Greater Daemon's wishes." Army Builder does not give Aspiring Champions the option of leading the army, which is wrong. The Aspiring Champion must have the Mark of Chaos Undivided because as a Word Bearer, that is the only mark he can take. Since he commands your army, the leader of your army has the Mark of Chaos Undivided, and you have no problem summoning any Greater Daemon or Daemon Pack in the Word Bearer's army. Army Builder is not always correct. The data files are maintained by people just like you and me, enthusiasts who do not work for GW. So in this case, you can print off the army list without the composition rules, or you can print the composition rules as well, and show your opponents before hand the location in the codex that shows why the Army Builder data file is wrong.

Thanks, I must have missed that part. I will see if I can report that to Army Builder.

Mahu, Chosen Terminators may take vet skills. They may only take certain ones though. Off the top of my head they can't take stealth adept and infiltrate. I definitely know they can take furious charge though. I have been on the receiving end of Khorne Chosen termies that had it. Capt K

I have been considering as a possible Bike stand in 6 Terminators with 2 AC's and a Deamon Icon, all with Tank Hunters. Probably in the 2250 List to take down to tampa.

I'd take both the bikes and the termies. At 2250pts you should be able to do both. Capt K

It should also be noted that an army led by a Khorne-marked Lord may still include units with the mark of Tzeentch and/or Nurgle, just not units with the mark of Slaanesh. Read the "ancient enemies" section (but as stated above, 'tis really of no interest to a Word Bearers army).
