I'm trying to decide on how to paint my cougar exosuits. I was thinking desert camouflage, but now I'm thinking that these suits really aren't made for sneaking around. They're made for jumping around and raining death on the enemy. And I don't think Heinlein's guys wore camouflage of any sort, though I couldn't tell you what color the armor was. So what do people think? What color should I use?

Tanks aren't made for sneaking up on things either, but they have camo schemes too. If you wanted to set them apart from infantry, you could paint them like vehicles. Older WWII era schemes, especially from planes, might be a cool retro touch.

Camo schemes are good for setting an ambush. I could easily see the exosuits half covered by sand as a horde of bugs marched by, waiting to strike at the rear of the column.

Are there any web sites of real military camo schemes?

You don't need a 'real' camo scheme. After all this is a science fiction game, not historicals. Just do what looks good. If you're after a desert scheme, check out Codex Tau Empire.
