Anyone care to share a link or cite an imperial armour book I can use to create/follow a campaign? I think I can pull 4-8 people in at my local store. I was thinking of maybe including a game or two of kill team in there, using different size army lists with different restrictions maybe, then maybe try to include an apoc game with a few teams somehow, etc etc. Really just up for suggestions and links I can steal ideas from

There are quite a few different styles of campaign you could run, depending on how you want to do it:

1) Linear narrative campaign: Game 1 -> Game 2 -> Game 3 etc. with the winning side accumulating bonuses for use in the next game(s) - ideally involves only 2 sides or teams playing a single multiplayer battle. Examples include the Sanctus Reach campaign books.

2) Branching narrative campaign: Similar to the linear, but rather than applying bonuses the winner of the first game is used to work out what the second game is, example - Game one is an attack on a communications outpost, game two is either a sneak attack on a flank if player A won game 1, or an attempt to re-take the outpost if player B won and so forth. Again, ideally involves only 2 sides playing a single multiplayer battle. Involves alot of work of which only 50% or so will be seen (missions will be designed, but never happen as the other branch is followed).

3) Planetary Empires style map-based campaign: More versatile, each player starts with a few squares on a map and can move armies to engage other players in an attempt to seize ground. Ideal for more than 2 players. Many extra rules can be added to taste (map squares giving different bonuses, each player having more than one army (/list) moving about the board, etc.) - Examples include the Crusade of Fire campaign book.

4) League-based scoring system: Normal games of 1v1, but players accumulate victory points (3 for a win, 2 for a draw, 1 for a loss etc.). Again ideal for multiple players, and is less affected by players missing weeks / games, and extra rules can be added to represent veteran units etc.

So, how long do you intend to run the campaign for? Multiple teams or "good guys vs bad guys"? Is everybody going to be able to make every game? I don't have any Imperial Armour books, so I don't know what sort of campaigns they have in them.

I'd like to see a 4-6 game campaign to start. See what works for us and try some things out. I think we're all pretty motivated so I don't see games being missed. I like maybe a mix between ideas 3-4

Ia9, badab war part 1, is the best campaign system. Ignore that it is marine vs marine. It can be used for any 2 team campaign.

The rules for badab are crazy! I think I'm going to try to use that as a starting point. We're all friends so I think we'll enjoy the team aspect of it

Do you have the 4th edition rulesbook?

If so then look in the back of it.
