Hey guys, I've been trying to track down some metal Striking Scorpions as I hate working with "Fine"cast. All the ones I've been able to find are pretty clearly older models, which I don't find as attractive as the current ones. Were the ones available now previously in metal, or were they made specifically in FC?

They were available in metal (in fact, they're the versions I have), possibly having dificulty because a) they're not finecast and b) they're way nicer than the two previous versions (nostalgia aside).

Keep trying, they're out there.

I assume you've already checked eBay?
If not, check there or ask in the buy/sell section of DakkaDakka.

It'd be a shame to get blood all over my nice new outfit...

I'm guessing they've looked... I feel like you didn't read the post properly.

Yeah, the poses and detail are way nicer than the older ones. I haven't seen any on eBay either, just the previous versions. Another strike against the FC box (and all of the Aspect Warrior sets, in fact) is that I need to buy 2 if I want a full squad which leaves me with an extra Exarch and an extra warrior.

Ah well, for now I'll just keep looking. I should be picking up a bunch of stuff (Guardian squad, Wave Serpent, Falcon, Fire Dragons & Dark Reapers) at a bargain, so I'll be busy a while.

Sifting through those for the newer Finecasts in metal is probably his best bet?

The newer finecast models were never metal. The old finecast models were the metal ones from around 2003.

If by newer Finecast model you mean the ones currently on GW's website then yes they were available in metal. I have 3 boxes of 5 with Exarch plus a few older ones which were much smaller.

My bad. I've been playing eldar for over 10 years and never saw those in metal (maybe I never thought to look that closely.)

And of course, I look now and see one.

Yeah, another thing (maybe I'm being too picky with them) is that the Exarch in the box comes with a biting blade. Was there an Exarch in this style with a scorpion's claw? That seems so much better than any of the other options.

The Exarch in the new style came with a Biting Blade option and the Scorpion Claw option, or he did when they were in metal at least. Most (all?) of the Aspects when they were redone came with options for the Exarchs.

Ok, good. Definitely looks like it'll be a long hunt to come up with them but sometimes it takes a while to find what you want...
