So I'm working currently on magnetizing my whole army for a magnetic transport. It was easy to drill holes for my scenic bases, but now that I'm on to my plastic bases, I'm not sure how to attack the magnets to the bases. They aren't thick enough to touch the base and the table simultaneously. If I superglue them to the base there will be a gap. If I use a big ass gob of glue, I fear it will be too brittle and break. Any ideas?

Mount them in Milliput butted against the inner rim of the base. Glue it when it's dried for an extra secure join.

Are you trying to put a magnet on the bottom of the plastic base, such that the magnet will come in contact with the table (or other surface)?

If so, that's not hard to do. Just roll a wee ball of green stuff, press the magnet a ways into it, put the GS ball + magnet into the hollow of the base, flip over, and press down (against a table). It'll be perfectly flat and you can add a dab of superglue once the GS cures, if you want.

Edit - Hah! you ninja'd me BC Great minds think alike?

The heck is Milliput? I assume it's like green stuff?

Will that hold, or will the magnet rip loose?

Miliput is a greenstuff alternative, yes.

Put a ball of miliput (or greenstuff) on the bottom, jam a magnet into it, press the whole thing down on a flat surface so it is flush.

When the GS dries, knock it off the base, knock the magnet out of it, and superglue it all together.

Cheaper modelling putty that can be used a little differently.

Have you tried just gluing one to the base and seeing if it works? the attraction might be strong enough even with a gap.
