Can I use the Centurion as the mandatory HQ chioce in a normal battle-forged 40k game?
FW just released the Centurion to celebrate their new web store - only available till 30th Sep

You can use the model itself to represent any appropriately equipped HQ of your choice. The rules, however, can only be used in a 40K army if they are 40K rules. Has FW written a 40K version of it yet?

I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method... is love. I love you Sheriff Truman." - Twin Peaks

I don't think there are 40k rules yet as the Centurion has 'Legiones Astartes' See rules below:

Space Marine Legion centurion with early crusade honours - 85 points
WS BS S T W I A Ld Sv
Legion Centurion 5 5 4 4 2 5 3 9 2+
Unit Composition
• 1 Legion Centurion
Unit Type
• Infantry (Character)
Wargear
• Artifier armour
• Bolt pistol
• Master-crafted power fist
• Frag and krak grenades
Special Rules
• Legiones Astartes
• Independent Character
Warlord: If this Space Marine Legion Centurion is chosen as the army’s Warlord in Age of
Darkness games, he automatically has the Child of Terra Warlord Trait rather than rolling
randomly (see the Legiones Astartes Crusade army list for details).
A Space Marine Legion Centurion with Early Crusade Honours may be selected as a HQ choice for a
Legiones Astartes Crusade army of either the Loyalist or Traitor Faction.
codex Space MarineS chapter relic (+35 pointS)
The Panoply ofthe Crusader
Several Space Marine Chapters are fortunate enough to have in their armouries artifier armour of
a type that dates to the earliest days of the Great Crusade, adorned with the heraldry of that lost age.
Such relics are more than simply peerless examples of the armourer’s craft to the Chapters that hold
them, they are a tangible link to glories and tragedies that to others are merely myths to be told, and a
mantle of sacred duty made manifest.
The Panoply of the Crusader confers a 2+ Armour save and, in addition, the model and any
unit they have joined gains the Stubborn and Preferred Enemy (Chaos Space Marines)
special rules. The Panoply of the Crusader may not be selected by models equipped with
Terminator armour.

Pretty cheap considering the prices of the other SM HQ - good for filling up a slot in a small point tournament, especially if you have an alliance.

He's more meant for 30k games than 40k. Rules: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/fw_site/fw_pdfs/Horus_Heresy/WebExclusiveCenturion.pdf

You could use him as listed as a 2-wound captain in a 40k game. If you wanted to use him in a tournament, you'd need to ask the TO. He'll come with the unique relic:

codex Space Marine chapter Relic(+35 points)
The Panoply of the Crusader

The Panoply of the Crusader confers a 2+ Armour save and, in addition, the model and any unit they have joined gains the Stubborn and Preferred Enemy (Chaos Space Marines) special rules. The Panoply of the Crusader may not be selected by models equipped with Terminator armour.

Alternatively, you could just use him as a Sergeant, captain, or Chapter Master with a power fist.

Decent model although I'm not sure about the face.
35 pts seems a bit of a waste if you don't know your opponent's army and you're pushed for points.

Yeah, that face is babboon @ss ugly. I know hes supposed to look grizzled, but he looks like he was mauled by a grizz. The power fist also looks wrong, spindly somehow. The rest looks great. So a vet's helmet and a Pfist fom somewhere.

That the 13th hasn't happened yet doesn't make it a failure. It just means it hasn't happened yet.

And the previous 12 achieved their objectives.

Just use him as a any like-equipped hq, or as a captain. It's also a distinctive enough mode. that probably most non-tournament types will accept it as a major hero, like Marneus Calgar.

If all space marines looked like him I would play them. They are starting to look too much like sissy pretty boys as time goes on.

These are battle hardened warriors. Not pristine super models who go out every morning preened and ready to look good in the name of the Emperor.

What armor mark is he wearing? If I end up getting this guy I want to replace his head with a helmet that actually looks good. The rest of the model doesn't look bad.

The only SM heads I would describe as being even remotely attractive come in Blood Angels kits. Everyone else is screaming, angry, and at least partially bald.

Yeah, MK3. It looks like it will be an awesome pair with the Mk3 Techmarine.

I've never wanted a Techmarine as badly as that one.

What?! It is Mk IV all the way with this one. The Mk IV has a very unique helmet and shoulder pads. Then again, I am much more partial to the Mk IV armor.

I love those new Techmarines... except for that ludicrous steel loincloth. I just can't take it seriously. I absolutely adore the sculpting for the rest of their armor, though. I wish we had plastic limbs that looked like theirs.

I'm actually really underwhelmed by the new Techmarines, especially seeing as they're really expensive.

I know, I am saying that if given the choice between the two, the Mk IV one is SOOOOO much better.

I wish we had plastic Techmarines PERIOD! Seriously, it is the only Space Marine generalized HQ that doesn't have a plastic model of any sort. And it is a shame, since the Finecast Servo-Arm Techmarine looks like garbage.

I'm thinking of using this as a captain for my Templars. Out of curiosity what does the eagle and lightning symbolise on his right shoulder?

It's a symbol of the Unification Wars, indicating that the wearer (or at least the armour) was present during that conflict at the very dawn of the Imperium.

Thanks for that. Is there an official colour scheme or is it just painted in the legion/chapter colours?

I believe a silver eagle on a golden/yellow lightning bolt is the standard.
