So, I've seen some bases where the water effects are freestanding. (Big example below.)

How do you do that? I've got water effects, but they're all liquid. How do I get them to set like that? And do you use special stuff so they won't melt later on?

Spoiler:

I'm not sure about the water effects you have, but I'm sure the example you shown, they probably made a form, pored the water effect, let it set, then removed the form. Just like setting up concrete.

I'm assuming the water effect you have hardens after it sits for a while, or has a hardener that you mix in with it.

As for the melting afterwards, I believe they set like plastic, so they harden, and won't melt.

For deeper effects like that, the two-part water effects are what you should use. Stuff like the Woodland Scenics Water Effects are only good if you keep the layer about an 1/8" deep.

And some, I assume, are good people."

That's pretty much all I'll be doing.

I think also with the free standing water, you need to wet sand the sides with a very light grit sandpaper.... i could be wrong though
