What's the best load out for a vyper?

2 shuriken canon for 50? 1 canon 1 star cannon for 55?

What do you think?

The standard "cheap and cheerful" loadout is a simple two Shuriken Cannons.

Avoid the Starcannon, as it doesn't put out enough shots. If you want a decent weapon upgrade, consider the Scatter Laser instead.

For extra survivability, consider adding Holo-Fields.

Double shuriken cannon is the best I feel. It's relatively cheap and can put out a surprising amount of damage

Hard to say.

I would say load it out cheap OR with something you otherwise lack.

Low on anti-tanks? Brigtlance.
Low on anti-MEQ? Starcannon.

And so on. But that's maybe just me.

I like the double shu cannons. It keeps it fairly cheap but is still very useful. It also syncs well with the windrider formation.

If you actually look at the pts efficiency BTW this is actually one of the most efficient ways to get shu cannons in the CWE army. Even more efficient than windrider jetbikes w/ shu cannons.

I am not normally an eldar player per se but am slowly building towards a guardian battle host and need to add a vyper. Just didn't know what to do with it lol.

Magnets

I’m leaning towards the double cannon myself for the one I’m painting atm. But if you list is light on something, it’s a place to get more. Brightlance is the other thing I was debating sticking on. You can flit about the backfield taking pot shots at tanks, and mostly staying out of harm’s way. You do loose the synergy with the chin gun though.

Vipers are considered crap-tier units and not competitive.

I am building the guardian battkehost and have to use 1 because of it. Mass scatter bikes hasn't event been performing well nationally.

The reason Scatbikers haven't been performing well is because other armies have things that are just as nasty if not nastier. Scatbikers are also very low on durability, trading it for speed and firepower. Null deploy and heavy alpha-strike armies can wreck them.

Vypers are underrated. A unit of two with Shuriken Cannons and Scatter Lasers puts out 14 S6 shots for around 150 points while retaining the mobility of a fast skimmer. I feel that's a decent investment.

Also vypers are actually extremely underrated units that are actually very effective inside of the windrider formation. Shred on cheap mass shu cannon firepower can bring down anything with a toughness for a cheaper price tag than most other things in the codex. I have analysis for scatbikes vs shu cannon bikes which would actually show you that the shu cannon w/ shred is actually extremely effective against MC and infantry of all sorts.

The thing that is actually most problematic for vypers is their base is too tall. BTW their ability to DS is actually a really underestimated ability that can pay some serious dividends when used well.

Personally I prefer the Shuriken Cannon / Starcannon build.

Because the Vyper is a lone unit but with some AP2 it becomes a great harasser unit. Your opponent will have to waste shots at it but can't ignore the constant AP2 potshots for too long. Shots wasted on a lone Vyper are not spend on something else.

Keep it as cheap as possible and choose two weapons that compliment each other well.
The Vyper is just a gap filler in a gun line. The enemy will usually shoot it last if you keep pressure upon him.

I am going to do the magnets but think I will mostly try double cannon or star cannon. Thanks guys!

What ability to Deep Strike? There isn't a formation in the Codex that gives them DS, and they definitely don't have it baseline. Are you thinking of Falcons?

Embarrassingly enough I was thinking of Venoms. Too much DE + CWE for me.
