A quick question. I want to know if I can go with white shoulder pad on Blood Angels, with fluff I know I can make it a successor (I know it would be close to Raven Guard has then but...).

It's your chapter. Do what you want. There's nothing preventing you from doing that even if it's a BA successor

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Yea I figured that. I like the look so much, and even though I airbrush them and try to spruce them up they are just so.... Red.

I see no problem if you want to call them BA - even WD has displayed player armies with non-standard colour schemes. But if you want to keep the Fluff Nazis happy, either say the shoulder pad colour is a unique campaign marking for some multi-chapter crusade, or simply say they're a BA successor chapter.

Thanks. That's what K am thinking. I thought "Sanguinius' Right Hand" or something.

Sanguinius's Fists perhaps? That would fit the tradition of other Fists chapters.

Or just Blood Fists?

The Bloody Blood Blooders?

I think either the Blood Angel or vanilla space marine codex actually says the Codex Astartes recommends colour schemes are rotated around and insignia/etc are swapped out from time to time to impede enemy intelligence operations.

Basically it is within the fluff that you don't have to follow the 'official' paint schemes, and 'fluff nazis' who berate you for it basically don't know what they are talking about.

Try to view 40k as a starting point from which you can do whatever you want, in my opinion.

Just call them... the Blood Thirsters! Bloodthirsters!

For a successor chapter, do literally whatever you want -- that's why they exist. But really, even for the founding chapters, it's your creative interpretation. Your universe, your rules!

Thanks for the input. I am painting the shoulders now.
I will post some pics when I have a couple done!
