What's the overall disposition of the Adeptus Mechanicus to the Salamanders? On the one hand, I would think that they Harbor a certain amount of respect to a group that actually respects craftsmanship, and the machines that it produces. However, tension due to the chapter not needing to rely on forge worlds (except for Land Raiders and the like) is not unreasonable to assume.

I think they are rather on warm conditions craftsmanship is deffo something they both respect in eachother, however idea adeptus don't enjoy the fact salamanders don't need forge world's dunno firstly it's not like it's costumer-producer relationships to start with. Adeptus are bound to deliver equipment since its their role and they are tasked with it by emperor and later by lords. They mite be rather happy the children of machine god aren't getting wreckd so often by salamanders. Imho they are just neutral like with most of astartes excluding iron hands

I wasn't thinking along the lines of customer/vendor, but control. The AdMech has a monopoly on the understanding and control of machinery in the rest of the Imperium, and has been known to guard those secrets jealously. The Adeptus Astartes have always been exceptional (theoretically, they're on the same tier as the Inquisition—reporting to no one but the Emperor) in cases of authority, but then so are the Mechanicus, given the aforementioned monopoly.

If salamanders would claim and keep an stc yea they might be up for a world of pain from admech. But I still think they are allowed to maintain certain level of independence when it comes to basic equipment and craftsmanship is an important part of promethean creed. It's similar to grey knights who craft nemesis weapons themselves where the rest is shiped from Deimos.

Each Space Marine Chapter is an independent, self-sufficient force, which provides its own fighting forces and weapons of war from the Chapter forges. For the most part, these are constructed by Techmarines and servitors under the watchful eye of the Chapter's 'Master of the Forges', but for some Chapters, the larges vehicles must come from the Adeptus Mechanicus. - imperial armor vol 1

Salamanders ship ore and minerals created by their planet's extraordinary geology directly to the forgeworlds, and are very friendly with the Adeptus s Mechanicus, according to INdex Astart s.

Given there planets very valuable ores, and such then I'm sure they would want to keep relations good.
Minor deviances can be tolerated for the wider picture and long term supply from a well defended and run world. It's a solid, reliable supply of vital metals.

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

Between

Salamanders specifically have a very good accord with the Mechanicus. This was used to highlight the difference between them and the Marines Malevolent in the first Tome of Fire book.
