I am considering getting two Hell hounds for my guard army to use for grabbing or contesting objectives when I don't want my guard to have allies. They are fast and with those flamers they may be able to clean squishy cheep objective sitters off. But they are not objective secured and they are relatively fragile with side armor 10. Are there any other good guard options for this role? Vets in a Chimera, Rough Riders or Sentinels maybe?

Vets in a chimera are about the same points, more killy, more durable, more customizable, have ObSec, and *could* take two objectives.

Is your rule book out of date? Hell hound side armour is 12

Hellhounds are unfortuantly very overcosted for what they bring to the table. Why GW thinks that they should cost more than a Leman Russ variant (More, given the lack of Smoke Launchers) I will never know.

1: I am sorry, I remembered the Hellhound armor wrong.

2: True, while they are not fast a vet squad has a lot of other stuff going for it.

3: While they may not be optimal, The Rough Rider option is kinda interesting. I saw someone here make some as a bike squad.
