I improved the camo pattern from the first version of my camo sniper scout -- this is what I settled on, with a higher a contrast. For good measure, there's a weathered fella in the mix. Normally, I don't like weathering my space marine power armor guys, but of course, these guys aren't in power armor

For completeness, I'll probably paint up a few more (to make 10), but who knows, maybe not -- there are a very limited number of poses available for these guys, and the kit is really one of my least favorite space marine kits. Still, try to make the best lemonade with whatever lemons you have, right? I briefly thought about hacking up scions to make better scouts, but the limiting factor is the chest and the capes, which you get very little choice in.

As always, thank you in advance for looking, and for your comments and criticism!

this one is really cool, I like it better than your original

when they are all standing together aiming the same way it looks really neat

they could be the nicest basic scout squad I've seen in a long time. congrats!

Very nice.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

The weathered version looks fantastic, Talys. Well, they all look awesome, but the weathered version I like the most!

Matthew, you are right. These look so good with just red and grey. The contrast isn't that high on them, either, but they really stand out.

Normally not a huge fan of digital camouflage on Space Marines, but I think you've actually done a really nice job on these! The weathering on the cloaks, especially, is great.

At first I wasn't sure what I was looking at. It took me a few seconds to realise that the camo on those cloaks is so good that it actually threw me!

Great work!

Why do you have to be so good?

Very cool. The digital camo looks superb and the edge high lighting is to a high standard.

Top marks!

Thanks very much!

@Darth Bob, NidLifeCrisis - I'm not normally a big digital camo fan either, but my old scouts were regular camo, and they always felt out of place in a concrete jungle (I like Cities of Death).

@Matthew, Vyxen - The idea with just sticking with reduced colors is that these guys are supposed to be sneaky... yeah, the red doesn't help, but they ARE Blood Angels, right?

I can just see it in the battlefield... "Aim for the gloves! Aim for the gloves!"

There are actually 8 shades of black/grey/white on the models. GW: White Scar, Skavenblight Dinge, Dawnstone, Administratum Grey; Vallejo: Light Grey, Medium Sea Grey, German Dark Grey, P3 Thamar Black. -- so no lack of actual paints. A bunch of those, though, are just so that I could quickly layer the pants instead of wet blending every one, like I did with the first model, or glazing every one, which just takes too long to dry. And, medium sea grey and dawnstone are very similar colors, but one is airbrush.
