I was thinking of a way to help fix IG infantry platoons, and it seems the issue is that they are really expensive for what you get, and they have to buy another troop choice to make your list bound.

what if you can take platoons as an upgrade? You can purchase regular infantry squads or HWT as a basic troop choice. But can choose to take a platoon, gaining access to PCS and SWS, and a series of benefits, like, move through cover or something?

what do you think? I am new to this, but I think the idea has merit.

I can't see that changing much. You only take guardsmen to blob them up anyway. Outside of a platoon you'd just pay 10 more to get bs4 and 3 special weapon options.

What'd make them cool for me is having hwts with combined squad like in dkok. Arm up your blobs a bit more. The price guardsmen pay for heavy weapons can afford to be brought down a bit as well. And reduce cost of power weapons for the sergeants.
