Mine would be Calistarius if I'm playing one of the Imperium forces. I have always loved this model For those not familiar with the fluff, it's Mephiston in his youth, before his change; the model comes with Space Hulk. He usually tags along most games for good luck! (also, he's the first plastic terminator armor librarian GW produced ) [

Blood-Drenched Death Company Marine
|
Mine is the current Captain of the 5th Battle Company that I've been using since I was finishing up high school and getting into 40k. I started Blood Angels and chose to represent my force as the 5th Battle Company, calling my Company Captain, Captain Aedus (I suppose drawing some inspiration from my name: Andrew) and he became 'me' on the tabletop so to speak.
Here's the original incarnation of Aedus:
Painted Circa 2003 or so I estimate. Captain with Power Armor, Iron Halo, Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon, Frag & Krak Grenades, Death Mask, and a Jump Pack.
That mini lead my Blood Angels to a victory at Warlords Weekend at the Memphis, TN battle bunker in 2004, which was the weekend when 4th Edition 40k was released. My friend Rob and I made the drive up to Memphis from Jackson, MS and enjoyed a 3 round, 500 point tournament on Friday. There was a larger scale game scheduled for Saturday, and Sunday of that same weekend, but sadly Rob and I were only able to participate in the Friday tournament. Also, Rob ran a JAW DROPPINGLY well painted Nurgle Chaos Space Marine force. Mine was painted well too, but Rob won the best painted award for the small tournament by a land-slide. Throughout the 3 round tournament, I managed to win all three games, one against Guard, one against Grey Knights, and one against Dark Angels (The Second round was extremely close, I killed his last model with my remaining 4 models to table him in the end) and my reward was this:
A life size, to-scale bolter shell cast in resin and fully painted. It still sits in front of me on my Computer/Paint desk, next to Aedus. There were only three of them at the store and they were the grand prize for each day's tournament over the weekend. Safe to say, Rob and I were both ecstatic with our performance. First place, and a real-life bolter shell, as well as best painted at the tournament. T'was a good day indeed.
I'm currently re-building a new version of Aedus now, to represent me on the tabletop when I play my Angels. P&M Thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/660997.page#8068184
I'm excited to get this mini built and painted, and hope it will lead me to victory as Aedus did back in 2004. Aedus has also gotten a newer, cooler name as well with the releases of the more current Blood Angels codexes in 5th and 7th Edition.
Aedus Sendini, Keeper of the Arsenal, Captain of the Blood Angels 5th Battle Company; "Daemonbanes" Quite the title.
Also, Talys, I may PM you later to get your recipie on painting Red, as I've been extremely impressed with your Blood Angels so far, (Your Calistarius's paint job is exquisite!) and hope I can make mine look as good as yours once I begin painting the infantry later this fall.
Thanks for reading, and take it easy everyone.

I do have a model that I considered my custom made warboss. He has a cape! But he's not actually big enough to be a warboss.
His very orky name is Wilberforce.

This little guy represents me on the battle field or when nobody is looking he sometimes inserts himself into other peoples battles. I managed to sneak him onto a table between two of my friends, he sat their for almost the entire game flipping off my buddies Eldar Farseer. Near the end of the game he finally spotted him and said something along the lines of "Where the Feth did this Ork Come from....Is he flipping me off?"

I have Dorvan Mar as my custom made counts-as-inqisitior to represent my Skitarii general; he's built out of all Skitarii parts with a custom made force/power sword that I made using bitz from the kit. I think he looks good personally. My tech priest dominus is called Ruber von Strauss; he's holding a decapitated necron head; ironically the first game he and the army were used in was against necrons, I managed to scrape a victory so the head is actually quite appropriate; although now when ever I play that guy he tries to murder Ruber for carrying around the head of one of his troops!

I am planning a new version (he should be an even bigger boy after 25 years of conquest), but this will still remain my Original representative and one of my favourite models ever.
I don't have a picture of my own version, but it looks quite like the one i found on the internet.

Don't really have an avatar as such, but there is only one that I've given a name of sorts. An ork slugga I painted red, blue and yellow then decided to give him striped pants. So he became captain pirate pants.

When I was playing Ork, my avatar was Snikrot. The model is soooo sweet and the character itself appeal to me with his fluff and style.

When I get him made it'll be Orkimedes. I'm very intrigued by him. Got no pictures or any fluff that mentions what he looks like. Just that he's the genius behind Ghazzy's tech such as tellyportas, roks, and submersibles and is the number one target on the Imperium's assassin list. No one but the Orks have ever seen him. I'm setting him up as a Big Mek in Mega armour, Power Klaw, Kill Saw, Tellyport Blasta, Mega Force Field and Super Cybork Body.
He shouldn't ever be on the field of battle but I want him in my Council of Waaagh! formation and I'd also play a scenario where someone caught up to his location and sent an assault team to take him down.

I have a few HQ's that my group knows of. They're not *me* specifically, but they're always referred to by the same names:
#1 - Chaplain Ortano;
(this model: http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/12/3/160525-Chaplain,%20Space%20Marines,%20Warhammer%2040,000.JPG)
"War is my song. Battle my prayer. Death, my sacrament."
This is the first HQ I made following this technique. Back in 4th edition you could create your own chapters. Mine were the Nighthawks, a recently created chapter based on the Dark Angel's geneseed. The Nighthawks would show up whenever the Inquisition requested the Dark Angel's assistance. Chaplain Ortano was a member of the Dark Angel's Inner Circle that was sent to oversee the spiritual faith of the newly formed chapter. He still bears the bone-white armour of the Deathwing - a stark contrast to the dark black and purple of the Nighthawks. His presence would prove instrumental when the traitorous Inquisitor Ghandi would attempt to use the chapter for his own ends.
Chaplain Ortano's favourite activity was being put in a squad of Space Marine Veterans (before they were broken up into the two types of Veterans, and before special ammo) with power weapons, and charging isolated squads.
#2 - Inquisitor Ghandi;
(this model; http://www.games-workshop.com/resources/catalog/product/600x620/99800107001_CaptainSternNEW_01.jpg)
Probably my favourite character of all. Inquisitor Ghandi started as an Inquisitor that was attached to the Nighthawks - but it was always expressed that he was a traitor who would one day betray them. His favourite method of attack at the time was Deep Striking behind enemy vehicles, shooting their rear armour with his Storm Bolter, and then dying. Since this was 4th edition, there was a chance that this Glancing Hit could outright destroy a vehicle (about the same chance you'd have now of destroying a Chimera with a Plasma Gun at 12" from the front armour). He was really just taken to allow me to take an Assassin, and in Terminator armour so I could do Null Deployment before it was even a thing (all the Nighthawks Infiltrated).
Inquisitor Ghandi would eventually become a Chaos Sorcerer Lord of Tzeentch. He almost universally shows up now leading a squad of Tzeentch Terminators with combi-weapons... Deep Striking near an enemy vehicle's rear armour. Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. He's much more powerful now that he's revealed his true colours, with a Force Weapon, and a very, VERY expensive 3++ save (seriously, how is it that Space Marines pay so little for this, and so many Necrons get it built into their profiles?).
#3 - Boss Dakka Killa, and his brother Boss Killa Dakka
(custom conversions)
These two Orks don't have much of a back-story, but one of them always shows up with my Orks. Dakka-Killa is armed with the Kustom Force Field, and Killa-Dakka has the Shokk Attack Gun. I like how the two have such similar names, and it's just a joy to bring them out to play!

Glorious Lord of Chaos
The burning pits of Hades, also known as Sweden in summer
|
It used to be Lord Kraxis, my Terminator Lord. The picture doesn't do him justice due to my poor photographing skills - my brother painted him to an excruciatingly high standard, and he is quite the sight to see in person. He is also rather massive, towering over my other Terminators despite lacking the leg-and-torso extensions they got as part of my upscaling project. However... Kharaxx, the 'Raging Whirlwind' (countsasKharn) is not converted and not nearly as well painted, but I painted him, so therefore he is special to me. He will probably make it into my 30k army as a Praetor, whereas Kraxis will likely not.

I don’t really consider any of my HQs “me” per-sea. Of all of them, I have the most affection and affinity for my chaplain. He hits the field in one of three ways, but mostly with the jump pack:
From a pedantic, literal angle, my avatar (seen to the left) is an old RT Lt. Commander. He’s the guy in the middle here:
He doesn’t actually see battle very much these days.

This guy ^ is the commanding officer of the 1st Regiment of Acrocanth. I don't use him as Creed due to his ridiculous points cost, I just love the model. He has a vibe of fearlessness about him which goes well with a CO.
He's also the only metal model I have left.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."
