I think you mean 2000/2000

Possessed in rhinos aren't that good because they have to spend a turn standing around when they disembark - which is very bad.

Possessed in general are overcosted for what they do...if you really want to run them take a khorne daemonkin army where you are forced to take a unit of 5 to get the blood host detachment - there is a reason why everyone calls this the 'possessed tax' they are really that bad.

My 5 possessed I normally use, I just run them with fleet up the board so that hopefully something will be in range on turn 2.

If you haven't assembled the forgefiend kits yet, I would highly suggest you build them as maulerfiends which are very competative in comparison.

Heldrakes good.

Nurgle bikers good.

Consider turning your nurgle chaos lord on bike into a lvl 3 nurgle sorcerer on bike - these days the more psykers the better and psykers WILL win you games with their abilities.

Consider using the ~800 points of posessed on other units:

-nurgle spawn (2x 5 man nurgle spawn squads would ROCK and maybe your opponent would let you run your posessed models as spawn which would save you the pain of having to get new models, just get some bigger bases for them)

I've dropped my possessed and just replaced them with chaos space marines. I would have to disagree with you about maulerfiends though. I don't find for them to be very useful except for destroying vehicles, which can be done for cheaper by Helbrutes. I'd rather pay for S8 AP2 blasts than for something which is, honestly, quite mediocre. With the spare points, I mght grab Be'Lakor as my warlord instead.

I have played Maulers in countless games over the last 2 years. I run 2-3, and they rarely dissappoint. They run 12 regardless of terrain, and charges very well (Fleet). And in 7th, speed is king. Also, opponents often overlook the range the Maulers have. Many a time juicy targets have wandered too close to the Maulers aggro-zone (19 inches standard) and BAM!

I use them to:

- kill vehicles (which they do better than Helbrutes since they are twice as fast, have more attacks and magma cutters, they also live longer since they have 5++ and IWND).

- tarpit things (for example 35 fearless hormagaunts, a good trade off)

- kill certain MCs and IC

- draw immense loads of fire, especially as I try to get Shrouding and Invisibility on them

I must say that there is no unit I love more. Many times 1 or 2 gets shot down the first turn, but when 1-2 gets into the fray, they usually do good things.

If you haven't tried them, I warmly recommend you to try them. But go for at least 2. 1 won't cut it.
