I'm toying with two possible poses for my commander, and was hoping to get some feedback on which one you guys think looks best. He's barebones, so no fancy looking toys, which I realised leaves you with some pretty limited options out of the command kit.

Pose 1:

Pose 2:

I like pose two better, the swagger stick makes him look more authoritative. The first pose is dynamic, but he looks more like a sergeant.

As they are - I prefer the first pose.

The second pose would easily win if you replaced the laspistol with a sword, though.

What's left of Cadia

I prefer the first pose, but then again I just love dynamic posing

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Both are good. I agree that the first one doesn’t really speak up as a commander type, but more of an NCO.

The swagger stick is nice, but the shouting and lowered pistol don’t really match. If he was pointing with his gun hand, or had a more stern/serious face on, I think it would match better.

So of the two, I’d vote for the first one, just because the mini is more internally coherent.

If your army is a heavily weathered mid-campaign looking force I'd go with no.1 which is my personal favorite. But if your army is a more clean, studio style cadian force, then I'd go for no.2.

You know what they say kids, drive it like its a rental.

One. I love that FW torso.

Two needs repositioning but it's what I'd go with as the stick is unique.
He's shouting, that doesn't match up with a lowered gun or drawing his sword, those aren't very threatening.

You can give an order loudly whilst not using your weapons though. Not really mismatched?

True, but without pointing at anything that order is in my head has despairing at tomfoolery rather than directive.

I'm a fan of pose 1. Reminds me of the Sgt. Maj. in We were Soliders.
Sgt. Ernie Savage: Good morning, Sergeant Major.
Sergeant Major Basil Plumley: How do you know what kind of goddamn day it is?

Best character in the movie.

Both are looking pretty good. The first one looks too unique to not use though!

everyone has pose 2 in their army, not as many have pose 1 in their army.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

I figured number 2 looks generic, and while I don't want him to look too flashy and all, I want him to stand out; thus the catachan head. He'll be joining an army I'm trying to make look mid campaign, all with backpacks and lots of scarred heads.

I'm most drawn to 1 kinda because it looks less pristine high-ranking like, and more like the kinda guy who'd actually drive about in a Chimera with a bunch of melta gunners?

Anywho, here's some more poses. Figured I'd have a look at using a powerfist since rule of cool might justify it. Also, figured this torso is more appropriate than the one with medals on.

I agree that 1 does look more like a guy who’s heading forward with the boys. I guess my imagine of an IG officer is one hanging out in the back. So 1’s active, getting the job done pose, seems out of place. But if that’s what you want to convey, he’s good. Definitely a junior officer though.

I like the power fist/swagger stick combo. I can hear him yelling “OK you lugs, get in the track, it’s time to roll forward and pop some tanks!” I wonder if you can hold a cigar in a powerfist?

While I like the dress uniform, you are building cadians, not mordians here, so a little combat armor is probably a good idea.
