can cypher be taken as a part of a primary detachment of guard?

it only says he can be part of the same primary detachment of codex: imperial guard and not astra millitarum.

I'm pretty sure that in renewed version (the one tyhat was relised alongside new DA Codex) of Cypher dataslate there is no such problem.

I think that it says that Cypher can be taken in any Imperial army now. So yes, Astra Militarum can take him. That could be fun!

It's common sense that Astra Militarum and Imperial Guard are exactly the same and interchangable names. Though you might find a TFG that disagrees.

The opening lines to the AM codex talk about them also being referred to as the imperial guard

The updated 7th data slate I thought also said he could be taken in armies of the imperium, but i cant check right now.
