Big question here:
If I were to run a daemon engine centric list, what should I run?

Who should I be afraid of?

How should I fight with them?

Av12 is very weak. Scatbikes can glance it to death.

I would take forgefiends, baledrakes, predator with daemon possession and warpsmith. Then maybe helbrutes if not forgeworld. But it is not competitive list. Forgefiends because i like models.

I have been running a Daemon Engine list in a campaign, with mixed results. I usually run:

3 Maulers
1 Heldrake
DP with wings and assorted candy

2 untis of CSM is Rhinos

A bunch of Helbrutes, in formations sometimes.

Can be fun, but recommended with friends, not in tournaments.

Could definitely work
I would use codex daemonkin and focus on soul grinders

AV13, 4 hull points for 135 points is a great deal especially with some sky fire, a str10 ap1 CCW. Either go dual CAD, grab 4 or 5 soul grinders a couple of mauler fiends for killing power and a few heldrakes and you're good to go!

I would recommend getting as many spell lvls as you can fit in. If you can get Shrouding or Invisibility for example, the AV12 guys will live longer.

Defiler can be fun as well in the list, I forgot to mention it.

Yeah, blood slaughterers are also worth looking into, they can do a horrific amount of damage if used properly

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

I love using all CCW defilers. I especially like taking 2 w/3 PF and a PScourge alongside 2 Soul Grinders with the torrent flamer weapon. 60 percent of the time, they work everytime.

Prepare yourselves for the onslaught men. The enemy is waiting, but your Officers are courageous and your bayonettes sharp! I have at my disposal an entire army of Muskokans, tens of thousands of armour and artillery supporting millions upon tens of millions of the Imperium's finest fighting men with courage in their bellies, fire in their hearts and lasguns in their hands. What can I do if I want to add multiple cc 'fiends for destruction of vehicles?
