This is more of a just for fun list because i love carnifexs. All i have so far is the tyrant, 2 carnifexs and 12 gants so if you have suggestions all are welcome. Im planning on having this to work on throughout the school year. Ive never played with tyranids so its all new to me. I was going to screen the carnifexs with a sqiad of gaunts each and have the warriors walking up behind them while the flyrant just does what flyrants do best and mess up the enemy. For the termagants i couldnt decide between fleshborers or spinefists, i will be playing against orks, marines, tau, and eldar. Thanks for your time, and sorry for the long post

This list is lacking a bit in terms of Synapse. Warriors are also not really a good option for that role either as they can die pretty easily.

I would recommend dropping the warriors, and adding some Zoanthropes (x2) and a Venomthrope. This would leave you with another 50pts to boost up your numbers a bit.

The Termagants actually seem to work best having half with fleshborers, and then the other half of the squad with devourers. But to keep points low, stick with the fleshborers.

Electroshock grubs is also a good upgrade for your Hive Tyrant. Your only reasonable means to deal with armor is assaulting with the Fexes. Having a template that can reliably take hull points is also a good thing to have.

Ultimately, 48 Twin linked shots at Str 6 will be a lot to deal with. Good luck!

I'd say, drop the warriors, get some Zoans and Venoms... or as everyone recomends, Malanthropes if you are allowed FW (I don't play with them, that's why I never recomend it)

Also E grups for the Tyrant for those Hive AV vehicles (if any)

Thank you for the suggestions, i know zoanthropes have inv saves but what makes them that much better than warriors? If my oppenent doesnt have many str 8 ap 4 and lower weapons would warriors be better, just because of the larger number of wounds?

Warriors are big ugly monsters, who have Synapse, and cost a min of 90 points a Brood. Zoeys are ML 2 Psychers, who get Warplance automaticly (and Dominion for free) with a min cost of 50 for a "Brood" of one.

In terms of survivability there is no big difference...one has a 3++ save, the other has 9 Wounds.

Warriors can snipe with a long range Cannon, and can be Objective Secured, this is a big deal. Zoeys provide a cheap durable Synapse that adds Psychic power...also a big deal. I normally take one Brood of each.

The only reason I don't take "Moar Zoeys! " is because they are an Elite, and I normally fill the other slots with Venos...

But replacing a Warrior Brood (100 points) for a Zoey, And a Veno (95 points) is a very valid choice.

Basically what he said.

2 more WC for 50 pts. War blast Power (S10 AP2 Lance or S5 AP3 Blast best AP ranged attack in that list), Dominion power and 1 more random power
- Rolling catalyst will give the zoey and another unit FNP
- The Horror to make an enemy take a pinning test with -2Ld
- Onslaught will give a carni Run+Shoot on first turn, leaving it closer for charging 2nd turn.
- Paroxism, -1D3 to WS and BS to any enemy unit.
- Pychic scream, the most useless for Zoans (better on a Flyrant swooping close to a bulb of enemies)
- And they have Warp blast, so you re roll.

Also, zoes can run during shooting phase, what gives more mobile Synapse. (can always use dominion to bring some under it)

Zoans and Warriors have BS4, so that is not a difference for them.

If you face SM or others with high Armour Save, you need those AP3

Ok thank you everyone, i think i am going to go with a warrior brood and a zoanthrope brood or two just because i like diversity of models and this is more for fun anyways
