I just got a dreadnought in a trade and I want some shooting support for my Chaos marines. So far my army is basically all rushing forward, Rhinos, Bikers, Vindicator, and a Helbrute that is just there...

So I have this dreadnought, I want it to sit back and snipe anything it sees. I'm thinking Autocannons, but any suggestions are appreciated.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

I like to keep things cheap, so multi melta, missile launcher.

Still, not a fan of hanging back with chaos. Feels wrong.

Just TL lascannons and a stock power fist. Get in cover.

The reaper autocannon or multimelta are your best choice for ranged weapons for your right hand. For the left arm, the missile launcher is an underwhelming choice. I think you'd be better off leaving the powerfist on there.

If you're having issues getting the helbrute into combat, you could use one of the formations to deep strike them.

Are you talking about the dreadnoughts as in the Ferrum Infernus from IA13? If so, TL AC and Missiles or double Missiles is quite fun. If you want real dakka, use the Sonic variant, stand still and chug two S8 Ap3 blasts per turn, or doubleflame and shoot blasts if something gets close.

If you mean the Helbrute, then go for a mid range/CC setup or TL AC/Missile setup.

The problem with a pure shooty setup is that you might lose control over your brute, and having a brute with double shooting weapons run towards the enemy is a bad thing

This silence offends Slaanesh! Things will get loud now!

Yes, I do mean to run it as a Ferrum Infurnus Dreadnought. And while the Sonic Dreadnought is really cool and really powerful, my CSM are dedicated to Tzeentch, so you now see why I'm taking less competitive choices.
