Can I just spray this chaos black and go straight to the green highlights or should I really base colour it next with Abaddon Black or something similar?

I... actually don't know. Help?

Since Abaddon Black is different from the spray, yes, apply a thin layer of Abaddon Black to all black areas.

I wouldn't worry too much... I used to paint tanks by spraying black, edge highlighting/drbrushing then painting details. Should be fine.

Depends on how you finish it out later, with any washes, weathering etc.

For the most part, you can get away with a colored primer just fine (in your case, the color is black). In fact, many are awesome.

However, as most primers have a lot of "tooth" to them, to get other paints to stick well, sometimes this can give different results when applying washes, varnishes, etc.

For example, if you apply a more satin base coat, to 50% of the model, then later apply a wash - they might dry differently or give in consistent results.

Of course, this may be so minor, it does not impact your satisfaction with it.

Best of luck!
