So, I've a single crisis suit unassembled. I managed to somehow get the spare bits needed to make just one, but I'm not sure what to do with it. I don't want to make a commander, because I plan on getting a tau crisis commander when the next codex comes out (hoping the rumors about a new plastic commander model is true). Anyways, what should I do with the single suit?

Go all fluffy and make a Lone Hunter: Two of whatever weapons you like, a Shield or a FNP-wargear, and two Gun Drones, and you've got a pretty hardcore killer machine that can take some punishment.

should I twin link them?

You can't TL both of them, the two FB take up 2/3 of your Wargear.

Still, it's a very cheap way of killing vehicles.

If points allow, keep them separate and throw a few markerlights at the target for a BS increase. Most enemies will have a sufficiently juicy target to throw 50pts of melta-suit at.

The Wise Dane's suggestion is also valid, particularly with Missile Pods or Plasma Rifles (MP's for light vehicles, PR's for anti-TEQ).

Essentially, we'd need a bit more info on the rest of your army, what armies you regularly fight against and what size games you play.

Oh, and I should have mentioned in my first post - Magnets! Magnetizing suits is great because they're so versatile. There should be plenty of tutorials online if you feel like trying it.

one thing that was fun, I was playing my brother tau army (farsight enclaves) and I used an unbound army consisting of crisis suits all souped up with the failsafe detonator.

I was tabled turn 3.

I would suggest building it (as said above) with fusion, a shield, and some drones. It is really great at its role. (IMHO)

probably 1850 points to 1500. What I already own is 67 fire warriors (don't ask how this happened) 39 path finders (6 rail finders and 6 ion ones) a hammer head, a skyray (both can be made into devil fish) a crisis team with missile pods and plasma rifles, 3 stealth suits, 3 broadsides a riptide, a piranha 2 fireblades a etheral 12 marker drones, 15 gun drones and 5 shield drones.

I plan on making a kill team list for generic kill team and for HOR.

Could try to make a 'sharp-shooter' out of it:
Shas'vre upgrade
Advanced Targeting System
Two Plasma Weapons
Two gun drones, mostly to have some meat shields as return fire is guaranteed

Precision shots on 5 and 6's might not be to the same level as a Vindicare Assassin, but you have the chance to pick off a Warlord or buff granting Model hiding in the centre of their Unit.
If you want to be a little extra risky you could swap the Plasma Rifles for Fusion Blasters, so you have Instant Death against Toughness 4 and a better anti-Vehicle result.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

I'm a bad person for wondering if you should get 5 more just so you can take the maximum number allowable in a singe CAD...

Anyway, seems you're light on Melta-y goodness, depending on how the Broadsides are set up, so I stick by my initial suggestion.

Also, Fireknifes (Crisis with Plasma Rifles & Missile Pods) make me nostalgic for some reason...

First off, magnetize the suit. You're going to want to mix and match later on and leave yourself open to change it.

Second it depends on the point value. In low point games I've had really good luck with a T/L Fusion and Missile Pod mix.

It was for a small point tournament. Gives the option to drop them close to armor. If no armor, you get the missile pods to deal some damage at range. It works well for me because the missile pods can add a bit to the anti-tank role and the fusion blasters can be good for dealing a reliable wound every now and again against choice targets.

It depends on what role you need with the rest of your list. I'd personally never take a dual plasma suit, but there could be a use for one.
Dual fusion or dual missile pods are the most cost effective for their function, again depending on what you need.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."
