I was just flicking through the Relictor chapter information here:-

http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Relictors

They sound very much like the sort of fellows that Malal would be sponsoring, especially with gear such as:-

Blade of Phaedron - Inside the Blade of Phaedron lies the seething soul of a daemon possessed of a great enmity for all its kin. Although this Daemon Weapon is unremarkable when employed against a living being, against another daemon the blade will blaze white with the pure heat of the captive daemon's rage.

Their seeming ability to wield daemonic weaponry without being corrupted would certainly indicate that another power is intervening to protect them, prayers and meditation or not. And since the Emperor doesn't generally bless those carting about warp gear, Malal (or Malice, or we're going to be accurate) would appear to be the prime candidate.

The Relicator's collected daemon weapons to use against chaos and eventually get excommunicated for it.. That certainly sounds like a daemon weapon of Malal. I don't know about going as far as that last bit and saying they're Malal worshippers. I'd certainly like it if they were but the chapter doesn't have the telltale signs of anarchy and self destruction.

I'm not necessarily saying that they're aware of Malal's influence, simply that it would explain their apparent incorruptibility by the rest of the Ruinous Powers from the artifacts they wield. The Emperor is grand and all, but he's not well known for sponsoring wielders of Chaos magics and weapons.

My take on the Relictors is that they're the ultimate pragmatists. If it works, use it!

The fact that they kept on with this philosophy even after being formally admonished by the Inquisition would tend to indicate a level of dumb pig-headedness that could perhaps come from being unwittingly led by the nose by one such as Malal.

They're not the sharpest tools in the Emperor's toolbox (love 'em as I do, I have to admit this). Changing your Chapter name to 'Relictors' and zipping around searching for malign artefacts is not the smartest behaviour.
