"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Leadadventure gets a vote off me, the writer posts there too and there's an ongoing rules FAQ thread on the sticky.

This has been a very helpful threat. I can't wait for my book to get here tomorrow.
"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"
I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

So is this where we're sticking our Frostgrave stuff on Dakka?
I had my first two game of Frostgrave against the same opponent, first to try out the system, and then to familiarize ourselves with it - plus, the game's go really, really quickly, even the learning games. It was my Sigilist against his
Here's the table we played on for the second game - it was a great chance to get some terrain out of my basement where it's been lurking for years:
And my favorite part of the game - my Treasure Hunter used a Ring of Teleportation to escape from the incoming Warhound, Thug, and a lurking enemy Treasure Hunter to escape off the table with the last treasure!
Are there any quick start rules floating around out there? If not, would anyone want to cover the basics of gameplay for me here?
I've got an odd deal. My gaming group and I are planning to try Frostgrave, we're excited to. I fully intend to buy the book with my next "gaming allowance" which is coming up pretty soon. Our next gaming session was going to be Frostgrave, but some good news came up where everyone is free this Friday - tomorrow, so we're going to game and everyone's chomping at the bit to try Frostgrave. I don't have the book, though, and I couldn't get it in time even if I ordered it now.
I've scavenged the internet to try to figure out the very basics of how to play so that we can still give it a go tomorrow. I found a video where if I pause it I can see the mercenaries stats and I jotted them. Desperate measures, I know! Osprey offers the spellcards for download so I can get the spells there. That's really almost all we need for some basic starter games before I get the book to dive into a campaign. On such short notice I just want to "try" it tomorrow if possible.
So would anyone want to cover the basics for me here? Just a walk through combat?
I've found a batrep on youtube and I've gathered a lot from that but not quite everything. One question I have is, when I fire at range at you, do you add your Shoot bonus or Fight bonus to defend?

Thanks for any and all help!
Osprey only really use one or two different core rulesets and just tweak and expand between games. Frostgraves set is loosely based around this http://iten-game.org/

Just aquired a Frostgrave Addiction myself. haven't gotten around to actually playing a game yet, but I've already started working on treasure tokens, and started building specific terrain for the scenarios (Mausoleum, well, etc...)
