Hello dakkadakka.com! I am a new player of 40k. Sorta. What i mean is, back when 3rd edition was out, i was just a kid but i convinced my parents to buy me the starter kit, and a bunch of supplies. Unfortunately i didn't have anyone to play with, didn't know i could go to the same shop we bought everything at to play, and didn't have the patience to paint them. So the big box of space marines vs dark eldar just sat in the closet for years. I've always wanted to get into it but the initial cost has always been an issue.

Well a friend of mine showed some interest in the game, and so we decided to split a dark vengeance kit. I've got the Chaos side, and have yet to play, finally got them all assembled yesterday. Im also working on converting some of my old marines into their darker chaos variety, but have no idea really how to make them look good.

I've always liked the Tau, so maybe if I get tired of playing Chaos i will switch to the Greater Good. Anyway, I look forward to being a member of this fine community!

Hi Chouru,

Welcome to the fight. Tempting as it may seem, learn one army really, really well before switching to another. It will help to keep you interested, because you'll start to win games when you know your army.

If you hang out in your LGS for a while, even if you're just there to paint around other and watch some games, I'm sure you can trade some extra bits for chaos bits that you can use for conversion.

Feel free to post in the WIP section for tips and CC.

Hi. Welcome to Dakka

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Thank you for the warm welcome! I have been going to my LGS about twice a week and have been given a chaos lord model and some spare bits. I have been trying to find the time to go back and meet more players and learn more about the game. I have invested myself in the chaos space marines. I can't stop looking up tactics, unit analysis, conversions, tips and all sorts of randomness. Unfortunately I've learned that the chaos force in Dark Vengeance is really sub par, by most things I've read. I plan on following a lot of people's advice and eventually usethe chosen as aspiring champions and whatnot. I've heard the chosen champ makes a good sorceror and a good dark apostle.

Anyway, thanks again for the welcoming posts, and in the next couple of days I will get to work on a WIP post.
