Just starting to build a handful of lists for 30k in anticipation of the plastic 30k box. Question is regarding the Word Bearers with Chaos Daemons as allies. Am I restricted to the Allied Detachment shown in the Age of Darkness FOC, an Allied Detachment per usual 40k rules, can I take a CAD of Daemons per 40k rules or another Age of Darkness FOC made up of units from Chaos Darmons. Trying to shoehorn in a Summoning list alongside Word Bearers.
Not in reference to using a 40k codex. Unless you can provide the page number and which of the books and I'm missing it. Obviously I have asked the question because I can't find the answer on my own.
So there is no difference between the AOD Allied Detachment (proper noun) and the 'if blah blah blah then you may take an allied detachment (not a proper noun) chosen from Chaos Daemons'. Even though there is a difference between Allied Detachment and allies with in the case of Crimson Slaughter and Chaos Space Marines in 40k?
Your best bet is to ask Forge World. In the meantime, the Horus Heresy rules are basically a variant of 6th edition, and I think the army list rules are best understood in that context; you only have the Standard Force Organisation Chart (with the added Lord of War choice) and the Allied Force org Chart.
