Another tie punisher list designed for competitive play
39 Deathrain enhanced scopes/extra munitions/proximity mine/cluster mines/experimental interface
25 Bomber extra munitions/cluster missiles/plasma torpedoes
36 Mjr Rhymer Crack Shot / extra munitions/cluster missiles /adv homing missiles
Cluster missiles are for the big ships or to plunk away at the arc dodgers. Adv homing is for the arc dodgers. Bombs are for arc dodgers and actually any ship. I've got a tourney coming up and whisper has reared his head as well as the usual Soontir and now Darth Vader. Do I have a chance? Is there something I should add or take away? Things to watch out for. I think a lot of tie advanced ships will be flown, is there anything that does well against them?

Not a huge fan of Cluster Missiles on Bombers. They're a decent choice on a Punishers with FCS, but on the Bomber you're not going to have any way of modifying the dice rolls. Obviously it's desirable to have a secondary weapon with range 1, but you might just be better off using a 3 dice primary weapon attack (which you can then modify with a target lock and/or focus).
Mjr Rhymer is an obvious choice for pairing with Adv Homing Missiles. Another suggestion is to add Adv Proton Torpedoes and PTL, or Wingman to help pull the stress off of your other ships.
The Deathrain build seems good. My main criticism of this list is that Deathrain and the Bombers seems to be operating apart from each other. If you're going whole-hog into an Ordanance list, I would definitely consider using Jonus as a lynch-pin of the list. Otherwise, I would maybe run Deathrain + something more "standard".

Oh man, I hadn't even thought of that. Jonus doesn't benefit from his own buff, so he might as well be shooting tracers to help his buddies. Something like this. Jonus gives them all a target lock and re-rolls, and the bombers are free to focus or K-turn. Cluster Missiles become viable, since you reroll on both attacks. Jonus will get focused down, but he's tough enough to survive the first round of shooting... which is all that his bomber wing needs to nuke the crap out of one target (could feasibly kill a Falcon or Decimator in one round).
Should also work well with the Jonus Brothers or PRocket TIE Advanced. Jonus hands out target locks and secondary weapon re-rolls like candy.

My hope is that the bombers act like btl y wing ships. You may have 4 of them unload the whole was at a ship and may completely miss or have several shots blocked, but you will get a few that shouldn't to go through just from sheer weight of fire.
I've tried Deathrain with flèchette torps but really with his dial, he needs to just stay alive and dropping bombs, if you get a couple of good shots off, take them.
I guess, another question is " what's something more standard"?
I rarely fly the same list twice, and sometimes win big or lose big. I personally don't have a ton of experience against arc dodgers which is why I'm nervous against them. I've played against the new Darth Vader once and found him to be incredibly difficult to bring down. I was flying 3 fixed turret y wings and 2 feedback Zs. I rolled and flew poorly and didn't get much damage on Vader at all. I have a problem getting feedback to work unless I run a ton of them .
I have tons of ships but ave a hard time making "competitive" lists instead of fun or creative lists

You should fly a list two or three times and against different types of opponents before passing judgement on it. You can't really "know" a list until you've actually put it through the motions.
If you're concerned about getting stomped by your opponent, you can ask him not to run a particular pilot, or to ask for a point handicap if there's a large disparity in skill between you two. There is definitely some value in flying experimental lists against a toned-down opponent just to get a feel for it's capabilities. But if your list is having consistent difficulty against something after a few games, and you can't mitigate the issue with different tactics, then you really just have to revamp the list. There isn't really anything like a "standard list" you can play against - TIE Swarms, Darth Vader, Falcons, all are pretty standard things that you should expect to play against even in friendly casual games. Just try stuff and see what happens.
