I primarily play with one other person. He has at least 1 of every ship. Small ship wise he is only missing the hwk, lambda, basic tie expansion, z95 head hunter, and ig88. I want to start a collection of my own but have no idea where to start because he has everything we NEED to play. do I just get one of each small ship he is missing or do I say the heck with it and go ahead and get the new imperial raider. (we don't really play waac style and lean toward cinimatic type play with missions and whatnot as time allows.

Do you have a nice playmat? Some nicer obstacles than the cardboard tokens? What about nicer manoeuvre templates, range ruler etc?

There's a pretty big mini industry sprung up in X Wing accessories, so if you're not short of ships, there's probably other things you could buy to make your games prettier/easier to play.

The TIE fighter expansion is worth it because it has Howlrunner in it. The Lambda-class shuttle has Rebel Captive and Darth Vader (crew), two awesome Imperial upgrade cards. It also has Anti Pursuit Lasers, which is making a come back. The HWK-290 has Blaster Turret, which is a decent turret upgrade but a little overshadowed by the new Twin Laser Turret. The Z-95 expansion is worth it because it's a Z-95; the best filler ship that the Rebels have. The IG-2000 expansion pack has Feedback Array, which is a pretty useful Illicit Upgrade for Scum.

I would say owning each of those expansions would be a nice addition to the overall game.

Yeah... get more of the basic ships. There are nice, fun upgrades in the Tie and X-Wing Expansion sets... as well as the Rebel Transport. I can't imagine life without at least 6 TIES... that's why I have 14. I need to play the missions more... they look like fun.

I ended up with the imperial raider... I have a ton of craft experience so all of the accessories, play mats, templates, asteroids, ect. I can make better myself than I would get buying them from those stores. The smaller ships will get bought eventually. Miniatures market was missing the hwk otherwise I would have gotten all the little ships he was missing instead.
