Hi,

Quick question that came up on the IG Special Weapons Squads thread over in Tactics (http://www.dakkadakka.com/Default.aspx?tabid=93&forumid=18&postid=66181&view=topic)

The requirement to place and resolve templates one at a time, and before all other shooting from that squad: does that apply only to "Template Weapons" that use the flamer template?  Or does it also apply to blast weapons that use the 'blast template' and 'large blast template'?

This becomes important in terms of IG special weapon squads, armed with a Demo Charge and 2 Flamers.  I assume that I can place and resolve the templates in whichever order I like (ie DC first, then one flamer, then the other; or flamer, flamer, DC; or even flamer, DC, flamer I suppose).

If the rule applies only to "Template Weapons", then I would have to resolve both flamer templates before tossing the Demo Charge.

What is correct by RAW?

The rules for multiple blast templates and multiple templates are basicly the same. So I reckon you place the templates and remove casualties for each weapon after each other. This can be done in any order, it can matter depending on wich models the opponent chooses to remove. With this in mind I would fire the flamers first, as the opponent can more easily reduce the number of hits for those.

Perhaps...but he may also remove the only models that are in the 6" range of the demo charge, preventing it from even targeting the unit!  I always seem to scatter off the deepstrike so that I'm 5 inches or more away from my target - one or two models coming off would make the rest of the models be out of range when it comes time to fire the demo charge, so it would just miss automatically.

Thanks for the clarification that blasts and flamer-templates use the same rules and can be resolved in any chose order though!

No problem.

I think it's a much better idea to throw off the demo charge first indeed, I didn't think about it's short range.
It's a funny weapon anyway, I've never really had more than a couple of casualties and more often then not my regular opponent manages to seriously devastate his own squad. And yet, it still scares the hell out of me.
