Hey, I am in the process of expenrimenting with SW Pod lists. My lists usually include Ulrik, BlizzDreads, Grey Hunters and WG combi-bombs.
I am now looking at what to add next.

Void Claws - They are basically one additional unit going down T1 without having something stay in reserve. They help reserves and you can add a character like Arjac. However, they do not do jack on the turn they arrive. I do not think that adding a Cyclone will fix that problem.

Rune Priests - GH lack combat squads. A RP with Living Lightning can easily threaten light mech unit and infantry with some other spells independently of the shooting of his unit. This gives me the ability to engage more units on arrival. However, I feel that I would need to.add 2 ML2 guys to make it worth it. That it a fair amount of points. Is it worth it?

Stormwolf - A good way to add some solid AT fire and keep the skies clear. A solid inclusion, but costly and does not appear T1. Combining it with Voidclaws to ensure reserves severely limits my T1 punch as well.

Anyway, what do you think about those three units. Are they worth it in a SW Pod list?

Cheers

I've been using the stormwolf and rune priest to great effect in my drop pod list. The stormwolf gives you a very reliable tank and monster hunter that is also quite durable while a rune priest with helm of durfast, a combi-melta snd tempestas is an absolute beast when deep striking, helm of durfast makes the combi-melta super reliable and many of the tempestas power can cause quite a bit of hurt on both infantry and the side armour of tanks. Biomancy is also a good option since twin-linked smite or life leech with ignores cover is pretty dope.

Yesterday my rune priest killed two russes and approximately 20 guardsmen in a 1000 point game when accompanied by 5 grey hunters in a drop pod with melta and combi-melta and it is by no means an exception in my smaller points games.

I've also been considering void claws, but so far I haven't tried them out in anything but apoc games, due to their points cost, but they have been doing well enough. However I can definitely see the use of them as horde killers, and an extra unit on the table first turn is nice.

So I would definatly recommend the rune priest as a first buy and a storm wolf soon after while the void claws can be left for later.

My armies:
vior'la sept 12k
Erik Morkai's great company 6k
dark mechanicus, the dearth of hope, 8k
rothwyr morwan's company 1,5k
Adeptus custodes 2k
AoS, The forgotten order, SE, 3k

Thanks for the input, bud. I am currently running Ulrik with 8 GH (one is TDA with free SS), 6 combi Melta WG, 10 GH with full Melta, 10 GH full Plasma, Blizzdread, 5 Bloodclaws with Stormwolf to make it OS and Arjac with Voidclaws.

The Stormwolf did a good job, as always. I am not sold on Voidclaws. They get there T1 and do nothing for a turn. In most cases I would have preferred an additional shooty pod. If I run 7 Pods, I can easily run 2 BlizzDreads to tarpit units the Voidclaws would need to handle.

As for the Rune Priests, I want to run them, but I am running out of space. Taking them would mean either not taking a flyer, which is out of the question, not taking Voidclaws and only running 5 Pods, which is not enough, or drop Ulrik. I like his PE, it stops my Meltas from missing and Plasmas killing my dudes. But when I spread out, his value dimishes. I suppose I could not run Arjac, but he has been very valuable in all games.

So yeah, Voidclaws and Runepriests are the two lose cats right now. If anyone else has an opinion, please share

If you're already running Ulrik and thinking about 2 Rune Priests, it might be worth making one Njal, adding an Iron Priest, and making it Grimnar's War Council. I haven't run the Formation yet, myself, but I've been seeing people use it to pretty great effect. I'm not sold on Void Claws, point-for-point, since, as you say, they do nothing turn 1, but if you're running 7 Pods, the Void Claws will certainly make a difference, but you still have no guarantees on Reserves rolls... 2 Blizz Dreads seems an odd choice, since, with the Void Claws, you're running a total of 3 units that can't do a thing the Turn they come in...?

Yeah i'm not sold on the blizz dread, it's slow as all hell and not cheap at all

Rune priests are pretty great but one thing i'd add to your list is some lone wolves, having as many different units on the board as possible really messes with peoples target priority and they cost very little

I was always a little ambivalent about Lone Wolves, and they've actually gotten worse, in my eyes, in the new edition. Beasts can't embark in vehicles, now, so if you want the extra attacks and wounds afforded by Fenrisian Wolves as war gear for the Lone Wolf, you have no alternative but to foot slog him all the way across the board, now.

Also, you might House Rule this, but my read on Void Claws is that Arjac can't join them... "All models in this Formation's squad of Wolf Guard Terminators must be equipped with one pair of wolf claws."
