Subject: Cerastus Knight-CRUSADER conversion - Now Painted!

So last year I bought a Castigator from FW and through some kind of fortunate misfortune, I was shipped an incompletete kit. It contained all of the body pieces that seem to be the same throughout the knights but was missing all of the Castigator specific pieces. I contacted FW who were very apologetic and they speedily shipped me out an entire new kit leaving me with half a knight to play with. Since I already have a Lancer and an Acheron I sat on the bits until the new codex came out and I was inspired by the idea of a a special Crusader to use as my warlord. So I sourced out several bits from ebay as well as my collection and VOILA! The Cerastus Knight-Crusader was born!
Overall, I'm pretty happy with it although there are a few things I may fiddle with, like adding some more cables/hoses to the gatling cannon flamer or switching out the meltagun. Im also planning to have a lot of banners hanging from the weapons to add to the ornamental feel of the Cerastus design. The one main feature that Im unsure of are the missile pods. I like them and when I was modeling them on just the torso the seemed great, but after adding the shoulder pads Im not sure anymore. Are they too small? Sometimes when I look at them they remind me of little fairy wings, lol.
Anyways, let me know what you all think. Thanks!
*UPDATE - 9/13/15*
I've replaced the typhoon launchers I was using with two whirlwind pods which I sanded down and combined. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it, though I plan to do a lot of conversion work to give the casing the same look as the rest of the knight armor. I also replaced the meltagun with one from a dread which works rather nicely. Plus it's magnetized in order to switch out with a stubber.
*UPDATE - 12/30/15*
Major update this time guys. I've completed the majority of the painting and really only have some weathering and finishing touches to do. Im not sure about the basign. Its done in kind of a moon theme right now bit I think I may repaint it in a more earth feel and add some snow instead. I also did a lot more detailing on the missile pod than was previously posted and I added chains to the pauldrons which I think looks pretty cool but needs a little weathering or corrosion. Let me know what you think. Thanks!!

You could mount some kind of targetting array inbetween the pods to change the silhouette and make the whole area seem bulkier.

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies. |

Nice!!! Utter unadulterted BOOM!!!! Can just see that guy bracing and letting rip with all the firepower. Lovely conversion. Missile pods.....I actually like them. They add a little interest to top silhouette which otherwise is a little plain when comapred to all that's going on downstairs

The missile pods are definitely growing on me the more I look at them. Im not super happy with the battlecannon though. I think I may switch it out for the one from the taurox prime.
Im also looking for someone who can do really good freehand artwork in small areas. Im thinking of painting the to armor panels on either side of the head with some kind of ornate scene, reminiscent of the typ of freehand murals I've seen on a lot of larger vehicles.

Yeah only criticism is the missile pods, they look too small imo.
