Considering that the Deathwatch only 'recruits' the most senior and skilled veterans, does that mean they don't use Scouts? Or do they just use Space Wolf Scouts if any at all?

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

While Wolf Scouts are used, they also have access to various recon servitors and remote controlled devices that can be used for intelligence gathering. If the team is working alongside an Inquisitor, the Inquisitor usually has their own intelligence gathering operation established, as seen in the Deathwatch novel. In addition, if a mission is solely recon, they may all just don carapace armor anyway.

They usually use Kill-Marines. Basically these guys specialise in solo operations. They infiltrate behind enemy lines, investigate the threat and gather intelligence before a Kill-Team arrives.

Forgot about Kill-Marines! Good call.

They also occasionally use scout armour because it's more silent.

I'd assume that scout duties in Deathwatch are performed by marines, when necessary. It's not like marines completely forget how to scout once they are done with the training. Cyrus would be an example of that (if you consider DoW games to be canon).

Not all Scouts are fresh-faced Recruits.

Scout-Sergeant Naaman of the Dark Angels is a good example of this; a full-fledged Marine(with Deathwing Honors no less!) who trains Scouts.

Raven Guard have been mentioned before to, on occasion, organize veteran squads into kill-teams clad in Scout armor with sniper rifles and the like to go hunting for high value targets.

All Scout-sergeants are highly experienced veteran Marines.

No, they're not.

Scout-Sergeants can range from highly experienced veteran Marines to the longest serving Initiate in a squad who served under a veteran Marine.

It varies based upon the Chapter in question and the situation the Chapter is in.

Pretty sure they just equip a few marines with scout armour if it's a necessity, a good number of scout sergeants are full battle brothers who are just there to train

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.
