Knight-Azyeros


- So, this looks to be the meele prosecutor weilding a starblade. Not that impressive weaponary IMO, only dishing out 1.8 wounds @ -1 BUT his abilities seem to be the reason to take him.

Re-rolling hit rolls of a 1 within 10" seems perfect if you have an artillary battery waiting to rain hell or some mortal archers near by (but not for prosecutors as they already get to re-roll) but then would allow you to take shields intead.

D3 mortal wounds to everything within 8" seems nice indeed, but is all about placement, would be brutal if you could get him near the enemies arty and pretty much wipe it out (as you get D3 for the arty and then D3 for the crew). But him not being able to teleport in AND he has to already be there for it to work (cant move if you use it) is a downer.

His final ability lets you get closer with your lighting strike deep strike, but only 5 wounds with a 3+ with no "staying power" abilities mioght limit this. Although can you move his full 12" then lighting strike your lads in? Might work well if going second and stuff gets within range.

Knight-Venator


- On to the ranged guy with his 30" bow and eagle! However, he only has two abilities both which could do nothing entirely and his basic stats only lending out 1.7 wounds @ -1 along side 1 wound @ -0.

Rend 3 is a nice touch on a roll of a wound roll of 6 is nice on the eagle, but only a 33% chance of it happening really and its only damage 1.

The single shot star-fated arrow lets you hunt down monsters/heroes quite nicely giving it an average of 6 wounds at -1 but could miss entirely!

What do people thing? I don't think much of the ranged Venator guy, not enough rend to be that usful at damaging stuff but could wound a monster in a pickle before your guys charge it. The ability to get closer with the Azyeros and the deep strike seems like a neat trick especially combined with the re-rolling 1's with ranged stuff, could make for a very big alpha. But getting him there... is going to be a problem. 5 wounds with 3+ save, if someone throws some cannons at him he isn't going to take it very well.

Both of these kits I like the worse-in-theory version. I'm going Venator. Just love anything with long range. Both are nice and I like how they take some finesse.

3+ save for a hero isn't shabby in AoS, especially when the save can be improved by simply stepping on the terrain. Or the Lord-Castellant can improve his save with its special ability.
While I find Knight Azyros to be more tactically effective(teleporting large unit of retributors close enough for a guaranteed charge, for example), Knight Venator definitely has its own place.
With its 12" move distance and staggering 30" range bow, his threat range is longer than most of the war machines known, including organ guns, bolt throwers and cannons.

That and his one-shot arrow inflicting large number of wounds makes him suitable for sniping lone wizard, which usually sits behind the lines and keeps summoning or casting mystic shields.
While stormcast eternals also have judicators at their disposal, they cannot match the knight venator's superior threat range.

Gathering the Informations.

What do I think?

I think I ordered a box yesterday and am making a Knight-Venator. Because that is just some sweet, sweet long-range killiness.

I do wish Prosecutors had been given a bow option as well seeing how natural that looks.
