On a bit of a Star Wars kick at the moment, I painted these minis from Knight Models (sadly no longer available):

The white was in three stages.
Base coat Vallejo Model Color 70883 Silvergrey.
Shade with VMC 70989 Sky Grey (then tidy up with Silvergrey).
Highlight with white. Job's a good 'un.

Great job. Would love to have some of those.

And another:

I don't know if those Stormtroopers are chasing him or running away.

Luke is awesome, great depth to the black and the saber looks great!

Really wish KM still did these guys; their Batman stuff is damn near perfect in terms of accurately representing the characters, I can only imagine how epic the SW stuff was!

Is the Fett making an appearance?

Luke and the Storm Troopers look great. Any plans for the bases?

They're going on to clear bases, like the rest of my SF skirmish stuff.

I do have Boba Fett, but Luke's dad is next in the queue, and then I think Han, Chewie and Leia.

I was a bit worried by the black, but I think it's come out well. Sharp highlights on the boots, belt and glove for polished leather, khaki highlights on the trousers and a blueish tone to the tunic to make them distinct, and then a black glaze over the tunic and trousers to darken them up again.

Not bad for an evening's work.

Those two look great side by side.

Keep up the stellar work! I am looking forward to you finally getting Boba Fett done.

They look good. Maybe it's just the photos, but I think they would look a bit more dramatic if you highlighted the blacks up to a lighter shade of grey?

I really wish I had picked up some of those models while they were still available, but at the time it didn't occur to me that they would stop making them.

Wow. I love these. Extremely saddened that the models are no longer available.

Your paint jobs are really great, love the Stormtroopers, I might have to try the 3 stage white method you outlined...

Silvergrey is a great colour; pale enough that it looks like white against any other colour, just dark enough that you can highlight it.

There was no mixing of colours on those Stormtroopers' white armour. just some occasional feathering using thinned paint.

Vader and Luke had different areas highlighted differently; Vader's ribbed undersuit was highlighted with a blue-grey, his armour with plan grey (and stark light grey highlights) and the fabric with khaki, to make the different textures stand out.
