I tried to post this thread already but something went squiffy so it buggered up and never happened, so if it has appeared somewhere already, sorry.
I am currently in the process of building a Bolt Action board based on the Battle of El Alamein (take your pick as to which). Things are basically going well, even down to that signpost that's in that photo. I have, however, hit a snag. As I began work on the train station I realised that the only track available a scale suitable for BA is S scale. As this is only Available in the US, shipping costs plus currency conversion costs make S scale infeasible.
My question is this: How does one build, or otherwise acquire, 1/56 railway track? It doesn't have to be functional with any model trains or anything.
Cheers in advance.

Work out what the spacing will be between the sleepers, find some suitable strips (plasticard, Balsa e.t.c) to make up the sleepers and cut out a whole stash load. Grab some 0-Gauge rails and then use them to create the track. If you want to be very prototypical you will also need too source the tie plate as well.
From experience making track for a model railway, track-making is a complete ball ache though.
Might be worth taking a sacrifice and going further out scale wise. 0-16.5(Same width as the common OO) uses a wider sleeper pattern so should not look too out of scale. Peco produces ready made packs so it is easy to get hold off in UK.

I just had a vision of cutting out enough sleepers for 16ft of track and... ugh, no. I've already found somewhere to get 0-16.5 for about a fiver per 36", so that's decent. I wonder if 16.5mm would be wide enough for 28mm Bolt Action models though. You know more about this than me though, I'm sure. Plus I've heard that El Alamein's lines were quite narrow anyway. Cheers, now I've got some options.

Its going to be a compromise. O-Gauge is closer scale wise, the problem is the size of the track is pretty big and expensive. 0-16.5 is going to be a cheaper and probably more a fitting compromise. If you are not sure your local model shop will likely have some kind of 00 gauge track you can stick a model next to just to see if you think the width of the track will be ok. Automatically Appended Next Post: The other thing is are you going to run it as a single line or the actual double with point work? If you are running it as a double line you will quickly find your table dissapearing with O-Gauge.

It's going to be a double (I'll be honest I have no idea what point work is) but it's an 8 by 4 foot board, and the line will run down the long edge so I'm not really worried about space. Price however, is an issue. I'll probably take a model into my local shop and see, but 0-16.5 is looking like the way to go at the moment.

Warlord are due to produce Rail Track....
They've shown-off a Japanese Armoured Car on their Instagram page (instagram.com/warlordgames) which runs on tracks...
https://instagram.com/p/6axK9hEuTV/
Then, in an episode of the 'Chilling Wargamers' webcast, it was revealed that they're working on three different track types - European Standard Gauge, Narrow Gauge, and a special gauge used in Burma... all in 28mm scale.

There's no release date set yet, but... they're coming!
