Hello everyone! as things move forward and the rules are being worked on we have over heard many posts and comments out their from many gamers about the current gaming scene.

We have heard many asking for other types of Board games other than Dungeon crawler styled games and others having shown interest in our game going towards a more table top skirmish style of game.

We want to ask you our community what you are currently looking for in a game we will give a brief description on each option we are looking at with a number. please vote by commenting the number you like the most and feel free to add any ideas or feedback with your comment.

Veil Fall is a Dark Fantasy / Horror game with a unique setting and with its games and story telling inspired by the Dark Souls series and the more recent Bloodborne game , along with inspirations of lovecraftian Horror.

#1) Miniatures Board game - Like games such as Decent, COOP based team of players , each playing their own character who can level up at the end of each mission based on the groups total experience pool from the mission. Either one player plays as the opposing side or the opposing side is controlled by a simple game system.

#2) Like the Miniatures Board Game set up, however more competitive with each player playing their own unit / character set on achieving their own goals ( fighting for their own faction) and avoiding being killed by other players. Several sub objectives would also be available and at any time a player may choose to flee the table by getting to the table edge and leaving the area. However if they do so they cannot enter the game again and must wait to see if their total goal score outlasts the remaining opponents.

3) Table top skirmish game, were each players force starts with at least one Character and from their can build their force out of any options ( with the limit of max two different spiritual alignments) to create their own small skirmish force to face off against an opposing force as they represent their own faction on the table top fighting to gain dominance over their world.

Please let us know which of the three you would be interested in seeing or if you have your own idea you can add it in your comment or pm it too us. we look forward to hearing your comments!. Help shape the future of our first Veil Fall game!.

with best regards - Erebus Studios.

It looks like it vanished. #3 was originally some a form or variation of a "Skirmish" miniatures game, so not a board game.

I really do not understand what your product is, what its key selling points are and why you want to diversify from it.

Even though I tried to find out, maybe next time make a better intro of your company/ product, especially if it is obscure tot he majority of readers.

That been said, I can give you the answer you don't like, but should get.

The one that will make your company survive the longest.

From the 3 options you list 1 and 2 are tough, the boardgame scene has been elevated in quality and expectations especially in boardgames involving miniatures, boardgamers expect plastic assembled models and their patience for assembling models of more than 2-3 parts is almost non existent especially if there is no reason for them to be unassembled, they also involve printed parts which dependent to printing experience might be tricky.

More or less Boardgames with miniatures are tricky, need funds and demand more research than it seems at first, they also probably involve outsourcing in China.

A Skirmish game is interesting, but what will make your stand out from the crowd? skirmish market has many exceptional games these days.

Id go 3.

I kinda like the idea of a Mordhime eee run around doing your own thing to survive kinda game.

leads to more campaigns and groups getting together.

Much of what we are currently working is still not yet ready to be revealed as of yet ( so our apologies on the lack of information at the current point , this was just meant to create debate and gain feed back from a few wider sources of view points) , as we are still wanting to solidify were we want to exactly step into the market at, however from our recent survey on our facebook page and continued research in the market place, we feel confident that our best move forward is into the miniature board gaming market. So gain the funds needed for our first game we would without question be partaking in kick-starting our game, with getting into contact from a few friendly local companies in the same field, in contact with a distributor as well we feel we can adjust our current game rules into a proper board game format.

We would have loved to go with a skirmish game but the market is right now far too crowded, and even with getting the best sculptors in the industry with us and solid and open to public playtesting of our rules the market still is currently just too hard to break into. Games such as wrath of kings that use the far too costly HIP plastics even with a successful kickstarter seem to still be having a hard time with breaking into the market place. Not to mention Dark Age and many other high production miniature games.

Also with kickstarting most miniature companies struggle to even reach their low goal and from our previous campaign we learned much about kickstarting and the need for a full gaming product. since many currently feel the miniature market has become far too saturated. We have looked at companies like privateer press, and how they entered the market place, they started in the RPG market , gained a following and this was a strong reason in how they were able to enter miniature gaming and start with enough of a community too keep their product and game going.

All in all we are looking at two companies one here in Canada that does the board game production over seas and one down in the states that have also done several games. We feel miniature board gaming is a much better market place for us too start in, with the 2nd most successful kickstarters being of the Board game categories and far surpassing even the most popular miniature gaming ones. So far from our numbers this will be the best direction for us too enter the market place and later then expand into RPGs and the table top.

We agree with this as well , If you have ever heard of Strange Aeons this is a game I myself quite enjoy. Building a group and having your force expand ( and decline!) and grow with a story against your fellow group really helps build an almost light RPG feel too your games, making the world alive and in constant change amongst your gaming group. However as mentioned above sadly right now is not a good time for new miniature games too start out, yes it is a great age for such games , however the market Is still quite small and currently overloaded with many well done games with even some of these games struggling to gain the fan base needed to survive and grow.

So have you networked on BGG? and do you observe boardgame review sites like the dice tower network?

Many boardgames have eclipsed the wargames in kickstarter for sure, but the questions of why and the more important question of if they will continue their success after the initial kickstarter run which may or may not bring them in actual money is debatable, it is also interesting to see which games succeed because of a cult following and which do not.

I am not saying not try, I quite like boardgame game design myself and do some projects myself, I just say it needs a long and really well done homework.

Also I think you should be able to have a sales pitch of the core you want to deliver that is descriptive without revealing.
