The dark behind the eyes.

Just curious as to whether you'd be happy with me using this model as a Necron Overlord:

Spoiler:

If it matters, I'm thinking of Voidblade, Gauntlets of fire, Phylactery, Phase Shifter and probably Nightmare Shroud or Veil of Darkness.

The main issue, obviously, is that the model doesn't look very Necron-y, but maybe it could be a mini-C'tan or something?

Let you? Fella, I think your problem is more to do with your gaming crowd, not the sculpt here.

Talking 'crons though, I'd consider adding a little metallic somewhere, right now it has a very magical and organic feeling.

Is it on a 25 or 32 mm base?
(the common base sizes for necron overlords)

Then sure. Looks good to me.

Is the sword painted the same color as the other voidblades in your army? so much the better....

If you were playing me I'd prefer you say "this is my 'Necron possessed C'Tan'. Same stats as a Necron Overlord, but looks much cooler". If you ask, then people have to try to remember. If you tell people what it is, they will remember.

Remember the rule of cool. Modelling for advantage makes you a bum. Making a cool conversion makes you awesome and if it's a cool conversion then it's okay.

Are there any small scarab models? I'm not sure how many of the full-size ones I can fit on his base.

Well, it's not like it bears the slightest bit of resemblance to a necron Overlord.

Yeah, that was because it was based on a Mandrake and I was trying to stick to the darkness/fire theme. I was originally intending it as a DE HQ, but the HQs in that book are abysmal and none realy fit what I was going for.

I'll try adding some Necron/metallic stuff to the base first and see if that's enough.

It's on a 25mm base.

I'm not sure there are any other voidblades in the army. The only comparable thing is that one of my Destroyer Lords has the Voidreaper, and the blade of that is painted in the same manner.

Noted.

Yes but its from the big super heavy thing.

bit stores some times have it.

Otherwise another idea is to use gold or whatever your metallic are to add some scribe lines or there necron ahnks to things.

Ah, okay. I'll take a look and see what I can find in my bits box first (unfortunately, I think I virtually cleared it out making my custom wraiths ).

One last question - would it be pushing it, do you think, to call that weapon in his hand the Voidreaper?
