I have the models for a War Convocation, but will probably reserve that for people looking for a tourney-level game.

Looking past that formation, there is also Cohort, but it seems the minimum points value for that formation is above 2000, and I normally bring 2000 points.

Are there any other combo formations I may have missed that give Cult Mech and Skiitari synergy? Because looking at the two, all skiitari seems to provide is redundant weapons systems (more Kataphrons provide the same special weaponry and add to Canticle count) and more subpar melee troops. The Dunecrawler is good for its points but is it really that worth reducing my canticle count?

I really like the idea of combining Cult Mech and Skiitari, because they should be the same codex dammit, but it really seems like Convo is the only way to do that without actively hamstringing the cult mech half of the army. Any thoughts, or should my more softball list just be "feth it I'm running a maniple and a Congregation together"

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Yea it's really unfortunate that the War Convocation and the Cohort seem to be the only way to get that synergy. I have tried running just pure Cult mech and Skitarii together without the Knight or Convocation bonuses and makes both armies feel pretty weak in comparison.

Of cource they feel weak, as both Formations provide massive benefits that few other books can get.

Anyways it seems possible to do it in a fun way, like combining two FOC's together, or even taking a main force of skitarii and a formation of mechanicus.

To me, the skitarii provides more bodies on the table that can put the hurt on a lot of things and provide more staying power with how cheap they are, as well as having better BS than servitors. I do not know from experience so this is mostly theoretical, but it also seems the Skitarii have a better chance at hurting more because of the Data protocols.

They really need a brick unit to take the damage though, as the skitarii are very, very squishy. Cult adds this with the T5 servitors and giant robots to help draw fire and take it, as well as being powerful in their own right. The only problem is they are very expensive for, so the skitarii helps to plug the holes in the battle plan by providing more units.

"Do you really think 7th edition was the best edition?"

"Yes, and I'm tired of thinking otherwise."

currently i have been struggling with the same, trying to build a list out of cult mech and skitarii can be quite challenging.
my local game store usually hosts tournaments at the 1850 point level so that s what i have been building at. i generally run my warlord in the kastellan battle maniple formation with the autocaduceus for extra durability and that unit is nigh unstoppable save for multiple drop podding grav units or being tarpitted by rerolling 2++ inv saves.
for real shenanigans i ally in a second dominus and two grav kataphron destroyer squads.

as for the skitarii part of my list i generally just take 2 squads of 5 with ark rifles and 3 onager dunecrawlers with icarus arrays to deal with skimmers/fmcs and man are they scary in 3's. this could just be my local meta though, fmc's and flyers are nuts here.

i plan on experimenting with more skitarii in the near future instead of the grav servitors because im feeling like i need more bodies for objective grabbing and the vanguard/rangers are much more flexible than the servitors imo.
