Well, I decided I wanted camo nets for my guard tanks, one I wanted the +1 cover save and second I thought it would be an interesting project. I was a little nervous because by the very nature of camo netting I would be hiding some of the detail I worked so hard to put on the tanks. A little internet research and I used distressed gauze I have blotted with a mixture of paint and white glue. I draped it on the tank and put some flock on it. Nothing innovative.

It went well, however I noticed the gauze does not want to drape properly, it is far stiffer than a rope net would be on a real tank. I tried to force it to drape as best as I could. I think I got enough netting on the tanks to 'be camouflaged' without hiding too much detail. I do think there are some places I needed to thin the gauze out a bit more, but all and all I think it looks good.

So did I pull it off?

Is there anything missing?

I think they look fine in construction, maybe a little bit sparse. If anything, I would prefer them to have a bit more brown in them. Even lush jungles have quite a bit of bark in the foliage. Maybe a light wash of dark brown here or there?

I have to ask: are the gears for the Wyverns poker chips?
Brilliant!
It is ONLY because they are Cetachan that I can say they are good netting.
The bracing on the Basilisk I like a lot too.
The reduced height shield really looks good on it as well.
Let us just say I would be more than happy to face those models... at least until they start shooting.

You definitely haven't ruined them, but I don't think you've pulled it off either. I think you've made the common flaw of making them look like they would in the real world, they're _too_ good.

The best ones there, for my taste, are the vanquisher and the hydra, because you can see that it is netting.

Either way, it does look really good

Just darken them a little - they're quite garish :-)

Love your hydra and wyvern conversions, lovely stuff.

On balance I think they look fine though as others have noted the green is a bit bright and could use some darkening.

And is that a bottle cap on the base of the hydra? Awesome.

Thanks for the feedback.

I am going to try a very dilute brown wash to see if that darken the nets. They are quite porous so I don't know how it will work out.

I did notice that they are very clean camo nets on some quite muddy tanks, I'll have to get a little mud on them too.

They look good. I would agree that they need a little contrast. If your tanks are muddy, then the trailing and commonly bumped areas of the netting will be muddy, stained, etc.
Also try and make sure they react to gravity. Some of your trailing fibres and sections are going sideways where you've released them, ideally they'd hang down, unless it's windy.

It's definitely obvious what it was you tried to achieve, but in my opinion it hasn't been pulled of well simply due to coloring and perhaps the density of it.

As mentioned earlier, the color scheme is a little bland for camo, looks kind of like green blobs instead of vegetation/bark/plants etc.

You haven't ruined the tanks at all, they just need a bit more color/development.

I have worked on them and made a lot of progress. Here is one of the tanks, I'll post more when I have wifi.

I like them overall. Though I prefer the ones with the large nets. The ones with the smaller patches or on the sponson have a kind of cobweb feel that Im not crazy about. But I really like the ones with large sections of netting draped over portions of the tank. Nice job!

Wow, man. That's night and day. I thought they looked great at first, but with the darker colours and the deep brown, they look fantastic now.

So. Much. Better> after the brown wash, really good. I second that the larger sections of netting look better, but there is no section that looks bad. Great stuff man!

Amazing with the wash, beforehand they looked good but now they look incredible.

The larger nets are better even though they do cover up the awesome paintjob.

Thanks for the help and compliments I am quite happy with them Ironically I may not be able to afford the nets in my first tournament with them. I may have to ask people to ignore the nets. LOL

Looking much better!

i think you could take it further still with a little oily grime, but am a fiddler of things and won't leave alone.

Must say they look very good

I personal would like to add even more netting to them tbh
It looks like the squad are on rations/are low with equipment :>

Its not much more but some tanks look a bit "thin" just I think

Still very good work m8

I will admit, the netting is thin. Two things contributed to this:

1: I have no idea how to drape the netting over the exposed treads on the top of the tanks.

2: I was trying to strike a balance between covering the tanks and letting the paint jobs I worked so hard on still show through.

BTW, I am working on a command Chimera with netting on it too, when I get it done I will post it.

I still sometimes wonder if I did the right thing putting netting on the tanks, by it's very nature it hides the paint job and stuff I worked so hard on. But there is no going back without a LOT of work so I am not going to take them off. (But considering my Sisters of battle army has it's third paint job on it who knows what the future holds for these tanks.)

Wow, they look amazing with that wash. I was a little hesitant because of the color, but the second run look amazing!

I do not like the AA gun with the guy sitting in the gun mount, However, I do like the Wyverns.

The tanks are well done, especially like the mud effect.

I think they look fine! However, if you add a little more brown to them, and then go through and bring out details on the tanks, it'll look way better... rust those bolts, maybe more shades in the mud (Try nuln oil, but DON'T Cover the whole section... just dab it here and there...try 1 dot and let it dry)

Excelent job. Also, your wyverns don't look stupid, and actually look awesome.
