I'm curious to get some verification/feedback on a all flying Tyranid list I'm thinking of putting together.

I have never used any flyers,never fielded a LOW and never built/ painted any of the models included in the list so I/m looking forward to a totally new hobby and play experience.

Here is the proposed list:

"WINGED DEATH"
(1850pts./ Unbound)

* Skyblight Swarm:
- (3) gargoyle broods (20 models each)
- Harpy w/ regeneration and TLHVC
- Harpy w/ regeneration and TLHVC
- Hive Crone w/ regeneration and drool cannon
-Hive Tyrant "flyrant" w/ double TL devourers (brainleech worms) (Warlord)

* Harridan (LOW)

1850pts. exact

I'm still wrapping my head around 7th edition army design but think this is valid.

Am I correct that this is a legal unbound force?

I'm unsure of the tactical viability and friendliness/unfriendliness of this build, but my regular opponents don't hold back and regularly stomp me with eldar/knight/allies cheese so I'm not worried about offending them really if this army is even at all potentially effective.

Thoughts?

Any design errors?

I was unsure if bumping all three gargoyle broods up to 20 makes sense or if my upgrade choices are ok as I haven't played a single game with or against Tyranids in many years.

My thought was that it is a mobile army with some degree of durability due to all the FMCs (with regeneration) and potentially recycling units.

Seems Tyranids are not restricted to picking Tyranid table for Warlord traits so I'm curious if the Tyranid traits are good in practice or should I go for a table from the rulebook?

FYI: I picked the theme ("All flying")after looking at the Tyranid models and then realized the detachment and LOW made it possible. I'm looking to stay to that theme, so I'm not interested in any restructuring that forces me to restructure army to add ground based units that break this theme.

Any C&C or feedback welcomed...

You are going to need more synapse. I'd rop all the regen on your winged creatures. The Harridan is cool but at 1850 it may cost a little too much for what you get. I'd look at getting a small CAD to add in another tyrant for synapse. For the troops you can take deep striking rippers for objective grabbers since everything you have other than gargs are flying or mucolids. If you get in a CAD the LOW can now create a bound list with a formation. But you would need to get to 2000pts I think

I agree that the Regen is wasted points. If you want a Skyblight, it would be best to add a CAD that adds Synapse. That will also allow more Tyrants if you find the need.

You may find LOW is too much at 1850, so you might want to proxy before you spend money. If it is too big a couple more Tyrants makes a fierce army.

A CAD can be as little as a Winged Tyrant, a Malanthrope, and Two Broods of Rippers.
