Anyone got any good tips on taking the Greater Brass Scorpion of Khorne down as quickly as possible? This is from the perspective of loyalist Space Marines. Closest I have got is getting it down to 1 hp by the end of the game. Would also be nice to hear stories of anyone doing particularly well against one and how they did it.

Thanks in advance

2 Drop Pods full of Skitarii Arc Rifles? You can take three in each, And two arc pistols. At BS5+ no less. That's 14 hayware shots. Should do the trick.

Well, not so good actually.

We got 14*(5/6+1/6*2/6)*5/6*4/6 = 6.913 HP per shooting phase. The chances are this giant thing will wtill be alive.

It's only AV10 in the rear, so even your regular Bolters can glance it down. Surround it on all sides and it has to expose its weak side to some of your units, similar to how you deal with Knights.

Knights have AV12 rear though...

I need to remember to ply him with alcohol to further increase my chances of this

Eldar once deep struck a big unit of melta guns into my Scorpion's rear armor. Brought him down to 2 HP in a single turn, its the closest the scorpion has ever come to dying in a single round. After that I put the grimoire back on the scorpion, destroyed the melta squad, and continued to stomp around on everything.

Suicide melta is your best bet.

There are two things you can do

Get to its rear av10 and go to town

Fight it with another super heavy walker. The scorpion is good at killing everything except for other super heavies as it only has S10 attacks (at ws3 i3) and a significant portion of its damage is from its d3+2 stomps which don't work on other super heavies. An Imperial Knight should easily take one down with its D-weapon attacks.

That is useful to know. Hit the knight with the lasherfiends first.

The GBS ain't no knight, it has paper thin rear armour because Khorne would never run away.

Shoot it in the butt with drop pod troops, even enough bolters will make it worry.

Or throw a super heavy at it, they struggle a bit against them because their melee weapons are not strength D.

Maulerfiends take my Brass Scorpion down reliably. Surely there's a loyalist equivalent?

No their isn't. Just like the loyalists don't have a Defiler or Heldrake

Doubly support 'get behind it' - with only AV10 in the rear it's vulnerable to bolter fire and...well, anything really.

Where with a knight, the key is getting it in a crossfire, with a scorpion you need that rear arc, which will double or better the lethality of things like assault cannons and krak missiles.
Fast, medium-weight antitank like land speeders are ideal - and probably (maybe!) fast enough to stay clear of it.

You may need to 'encourage' him to point the other way by giving him a nice, tempting target for the main gun.

Where are the rules for brass scorpions? Im interested in doing KDK.

Assault it with Mephiston? That's how I killed it. That or the 1st Company Task Force formation. Pick it as the preferred enemy target and load up some pod sternguard with combi meltas.

Squad of Vanguard veterans with melta bombs should make quick work of it.
