Eldar Ulthwe – Fluffy list (but don’t want to be tabled turn 2)

1500pts Eldar Craftworlds Combined Arms Detachment

HQ (315 points)
Eldrad Ulthran (Warlord)
Farseer: Shuriken Pistol, Singing Spear, Skyrunner

Elites (295 pts)
5 x Wraithguard w/ Wave Serpent (holofields, Shuriken Cannon, TL Shuriken Cannons)

Troops (414 pts)
10 x Guardian Defenders w/ Wave Serpent (holofields, Shuriken Cannon, TL Shuriken Cannons)
7 x Windriders w/ Scatter Lasers

Fast Attack (195 pts)
3 x Vyper w/ Bright Lance, Holo-fields, TL Shuriken Catapults

Heavy Support (270 pts)
3 x War Walkers w/ Eldar Missile Launchers

While the real point is to field Eldrad and have an Ulthwe Army, the goal is to have Eldrad have his choice of ride (Guardians or Wraith Guard) and the other Farseer to roll with the Windriders. Vypers hit elite targets or armor, War Walkers are multipurpose, and the Wraithguard are there to draw fire or kill death stars.

Thoughts?

Consider instead having the Farseer ride along with a Vaul's Engine Support Battery instead. Gives her T7 from shooting, which is helpful.

What weapons do the wraithguard have?

Take bright lances on the war walkers not EMLs.

Replace the Vypers with either some warp spiders or get rid of them and take another guardian troop.

Consider taking 2 squads of 5 jetbikes to separate the shooting. Having 28 s6 shots hosing something down is nearly always going to be overkill.

If you're going Ulthwe, consider the Seer Council formation, as that is quite fluffy and will let you absolutely dominate the psychic phase. Just make sure that you put them on foot to avoid being a cheesemonger.

Eldrad is definitely a good choice, but consider adding more Warlocks.

The Eldar Warhost is a good fit for Ulthwe, as it lets you use plenty of Guardians and gets you the 6" automatic run for your footseer council.

Vypers should have Shuriken Cannons or Scatter Lasers, preferably both. War Walkers should have dual Bright Lances. Only use EML if yo have no other AA. Consider adding in a Crimson Hunter for that purpose.

I like the feel of this list, but it needs some work.

The Wraithguard will have Wraith Cannons.

I really like the idea of 2 groups of Jetbikes, will see what I can do in terms of rearranging points.

I am having a difficult time getting Vaul's Engines at the moment, but I will at some point because I think they are neat looking. Giving the Farseer T7 would be pretty nice though.

I understand the Warp Spider swap, but I am avoiding all aspect warriors to keep the list fluffy. I don't neccessarily need something in the FA slot, I just have 4 Vypers and like the model. Would a tank be a better substitute?

I was thinking the Warhost might be too goofy for the folks I play with but I agree I could make one fluffy for the Ulthwe theme.

I need to kitbash some warlocks together and a seer council sounds like a lot of fun to add in. I don't play many psykers so I am not sure what I would have them *do* during my turn. I will move to the dual Bright Lances on the War Walkers.

The Warhost is hardly OP, even by the standards of the Eldar codex.

What psykers "do" is cast powers, either to buff your units or debuff your opponents'.

Good suggestions thus far. The Seer Council can be incredibly fun.

Ulthwe doesn't avoid all aspect warriors, it's just not prevalent with them. I.E. how I usually run them is no more than 1 unit of a given aspect, and very very seldom max them out, but always take an exarch as the whole shrine is going to war.

Alternatively, Vypers are cool and I like them too, but they're a 2HP open topped unit. They die to nearly every gun in the game. Consider them a support option, not a mainstay "hunter" as you were mentioning for them.
